The USA didn't do anything useful to deal with the USSR. The USSR fell because of the oil glut and it came as a surprise to US strategists.

Elijah Hill

Which is not true at all The Reagan Administration waged an all-out campaign to choke the Soviet Union to death including limiting its ability to borrow money from overseas banks (West Germany, those fine cucks, were one of Moscow's biggest lenders) and cracking down on the unfettered access Soviet agents had to US government, educational, and industrial institutions during the years of detente.

You must be kidding me?
The war on terror is going EXACTLY as planned:
1. Money out of pockets of the middle class to pockets of top 10% (large shareholders in the military industrial complex, think Northrop-Grumman)
2. Keeps the average American in a malleable state of fear and control through political and economic means

How US dealt with collapse of USSR was an economic success but a long term failure. US got 20 years worth of markets worldwide, but inevitably it all bubbled up to the dot com crash of early 2000s. Ask people who were around and working during the 90s, it was the easiest decade for US and the west in general. Long term however it set up the stage for confrontation with China and allowed Russia to lean into the opposing camp. Considering world trade will take place through the arctic passage, this was a mistake.

(except how it dealt with USSR)
That was more of a lucky crapshoot as well. Reagan was gambling that the USSR couldn't keep up at some point, and his arms race could've backfired horribly and possibly triggered a nuclear world war if he had been wrong.

Since the fall of the Soviet Union, and the loss of its geopolitical rival, the US has had no real comprehensive foreign policy

The US's experiment with country building in the ME has made them apprehensive about spreading ideology

fun fact: the american dollar was based on the spanish dollar (peso del 8)
this is why peso actually means roughly the same than dollar in latin america.
The Spanish Dollar was the first true global currency, even being used as de facto currency in the United States of America for the first years of its existance before creating USD.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_dollar
The Spanish dollar was the coin upon which the original United States dollar was based, and it remained legal tender in the United States until the Coinage Act of 1857. Because it was widely used in Europe, the Americas, and the Far East, it became the first world currency by the late 18th century.[2][3] Aside from the U.S. dollar, several other currencies, such as the Canadian dollar, the Japanese yen, the Chinese yuan, the Philippine peso, and several currencies in the rest of the Americas, were initially based on the Spanish dollar and other 8-real coins.
