What if warm weather just makes humans more aggressive due to our tropical origins? And cold temperatures have a 'cooling' effect on our temper.
Just think about it, in America whites are so much more violent than in Europe, even though they're more or less identical to us. Whereas Canada, which is on our latitude they're so much more peaceful and nice.
Also notice how East Asians have very low homicide rates, whereas Southeast Asia is a hotbed of drugs and murder, so it's Asians too. Conversely, on the Southern hemisphere, in say, Argentina, Australia and Kiwiland are relatively safe compared to the murder capital of the world Brazil, also Colombia and so on.
I feel that it is kinda true that temperature increases violence

It's true, just look at this map. Most murders in the world happen in that wide strip on the planet near the equator, between the tropic of Cancer and Capricorn. And this image is just Brazil, the overwhelming majority of Africa, Central and Latin America also fall in this area. I definitely feel like there is a pattern. Well, Singapore is an outlier.
Americans kill about 18.000 people a year. It doesn't seem like a lot, but then you realize that in China it's about 13.000 per year. However there are 1.4 billion Chinese people, whereas America has 389 million. So that means China with triple the population has less homicides than America. Really puts things into perspective, doesn't it?
Liam King
I thought with the amount of school shootings they would have triple the homicide
William Allen
It's still insanely high. If you add all the EU homicides together, they add up to like 3000. And the EU has about 187 million more people than Americans.

Someone before thought about this as well.
>Another example of Montesquieu's anthropological thinking, outlined in The Spirit of the Laws and hinted at in Persian Letters, is his meteorological climate theory, which holds that climate may substantially influence the nature of man and his society. By placing an emphasis on environmental influences as a material condition of life, Montesquieu prefigured modern anthropology's concern with the impact of material conditions, such as available energy sources, organized production systems, and technologies, on the growth of complex socio-cultural systems.
>He goes so far as to assert that certain climates are superior to others, the temperate climate of France being ideal. His view is that people living in very warm countries are "too hot-tempered", while those in northern countries are "icy" or "stiff". The climate of middle Europe is therefore optimal. On this point, Montesquieu may well have been influenced by a similar pronouncement in The Histories of Herodotus, where he makes a distinction between the "ideal" temperate climate of Greece as opposed to the overly cold climate of Scythia and the overly warm climate of Egypt. This was a common belief at the time, and can also be found within the medical writings of Herodotus' times, including the "On Airs, Waters, Places" of the Hippocratic corpus. One can find a similar statement in Germania by Tacitus, one of Montesquieu's favorite authors.
You're one to talk, Americans completely eradicated the poor Natives

The city of Rosario, Argentina has a higher murder rate than Medellin, Colombia
The city of Montevideo, Uruguay has a higher murder rate than Bogota, Colombia
The cities of Sao Paulo, Brazil and Bogota, Colombia are several times safer than the cities of Detroit or Chicago, USA, which are located at European latitude

It's been going down. As of 2018, it is 22 per 100.000. Also, I compared cities as most people spend their lives there rather than constantly moving around the country. Btw, it is worth mentioning that crime, at least here, but also in Mexico and Brazil is heavily localized. If you don't live in a hotspot, chances are you will never be a victim of crime
