aside from borders Karabakh is actually a very safe place. The real reason why you shouldn't go there is because you'll become persona non grata in Azerbaijan

I wouldn't visit rural Chechnya, Ingushetia and Dagestan. Grozny is fine but there aren't many fun things to do since it's pretty much sharia zone
