Why do Germans like coal power so much?

Why do Germans like coal power so much?

if south america makes ONE ONE MOTHERFUCKER COAL POWER PLANT THOSE GREENSHIT IDIOTS COME TO MAKES A BOICOTT, BUT NO SAY NOTHING ABOUT THE GREAT POWERS

They violate the Paris Climate Accord
>burn the coal
>pay the toll

Hasn't merkel destroyed tourism in some towns because of her coal autism?

Did you have a stroke?

they want to gas the planet and flee to the moon

Germany doesn't have any oil but lots of coal

coal power is more expensive anyways

hidroeletric masterrace

germany was never bombed in ww2 and they deserved it, so they are afraid of any application of nuclear fission

don't forget what really looks like those cute little icons

>germany was never bombed in ww2

because AT LEAST ITS NOT NUCLEAR
fucking lol

because nuclear energy pollutes the environment :^)

It's their new, sneaky way of fufilling their unending desires to destroy the world

to keep consistent power to grid what else can one use if not biological energy sources, or nuclear fission? hydro is limited in its sources, wind and solar are too spotty!

Because it's much, much cleaner than nuclear power.
Ever thought what would happen if a tsunami hit the rhineland?

Please let's all switch to thorium reactors. They are cleaner, safer, and the waste can be reprocessed. I know building new power plants is economicly unviable but once your past the initial investment the world will be better off

coal power is trash anyways, no reason for us to make the same mistakes other countries have done
natural gas is way cleaner if you want fossils, and we have a ton of untapped renewables

because it's safer than nuclear of course

yay for oil shale

are you gonna post some global warming infographics next?

Real facts: By the time our government decided on the nuclear exit (the first agreement was in 2001 or so signed by our previous chancellor, was then post-poned by Merkel and then hastily reinstated after Fukushima) pollution and global warming weren't a political issue yet, and by now we are too far into the nuclear exit (and frankly the government desperately wants to save face and not admit they've made wrong decisions for almost two decades because the energy reform has been and continues to be retardedly costly) to also turn off coal power at the same time. Merkel and her henchmen are increasingly getting flak for their disadvantageous priorities though.

Because they don't have a real alternative.

t. powered by giant rivers.

You can only make ample use of hydroelectric energy if you have geography suited to it. Meager elevation changes and waterways in Germany make it so that hydroelectric power has already used up most of its potential for electricity generation, and still is only supplying 4% of our production.

Even if you ignore all the deaths caused by pollution (which is ridiculous) and only include accidents nuclear is still more than 10 times safer than the 2nd place.
But surely you can provide numbers and arguments to prove otherwise.

You now know that there are radioactive particles in coal. A tiny little bit per ton. But coal plants can burn several hundred tons of it per day. Coal plants produce not only shit the air with particles a lot more, they also are unironically more radioactive than super regulated nuclear. Enjoy your shitty and radioactive air.

>Coal plants produce not only shit the air with particles a lot more
sorry, I had a stroke, you get what I mean

the german soul is as dark as coal therefore they find solace in fuelling their hate with dark earth

also goal produces toxic gas and you know how much germans love to gas people

Nuclear

German women are coal burners.

because germany decided to do this with their nuclear power plants

We´re so utterly retarded it´s not even funny anymore

yeah but what if there was a tsunami in the baltic sea?????????????????????

if the general sentiment is what said, why not start a petition for the government to put them all online again? unless they're being dismantled of course... I doubt other EU members would complain, seeing how France is a prime example of nuclear autism, and there are a bunch of European companies producing all the tech and equipment locally.

>tfw we're hitting the same road
We're supposed to close them all down by 2025, but i really hope the politicians by then have realised how stupid that is.

what a fucking joke

bullet in the back of the head of every leftist "greenie" when??

Belgium hasn't actually shut any of theirs down yet though. Germany has shut down almost all. Germany even had two nuclear reactors that were completed but never even used lmao.

>be Germany
>uranium is limited
>build a breeder reactor that would cost €6,5b today
>shut it down before even using it
What did they mean by this?

Why would you even close nuclear plants and replace them with coal plants, you dumb cunts ?

>Why would you even close nuclear plants and replace them with coal plants, you dumb cunts ?
Because it was decided when people were afraid of nuclear wars, not global warming. Also germans are stupid.

fucking this. shut down nuclear in mid-europe because of a flood on japan. ive never been able to bend my mind around gow anyone could ever think that was a good idea. should have just stuck to applying facebook profile picture filters.

germany shut down their nuclear following fukushima, because of some german logic that is incomprehensible to the rest of the world

Have fun powering a country without nuclear and coal. It’s just impossible unless you have hydro.

The biggest problem is that the most popular opposition party to the current government is the Greens which are even more pro-nuclear exit than the current government.
There is no possible scenario under which nuclear power could be used again and thus we will simply have to buy it from our French and Czech neighbors who luckily aren't quite as retarded as we are.
