nobody cares you unfunny autist

Wasn't it pretty much a stalemate? Both sides realized they were wasting time.

They had some good moments. The USA conquered Quebec, and the British torched DC.

American'ts get dabbed on

Pretty much, all that happened was a bigger push for Manifest destiny and British Canada had to match that

It's a weird war, because nothing happened, but it benefited both sides.

>By 1814, both sides had either achieved their main war goals or were weary of a costly war that offered little but stalemate.

>They both sent delegations to a neutral site in Ghent, Flanders

>Neither side lost territory in the war

>Wellington emphasized that the war was a draw

>The Treaty of Ghent failed to secure official British acknowledgement of American maritime rights or ending impressment. The Americans had achieved their goal of ending the Indian threat; furthermore the American armies had scored enough victories (especially at New Orleans) to satisfy honour and the sense of becoming fully independent from Britain.

Quite literally a stalemate if I've ever seen one.

:)

>Both sides realized they were wasting time
yes the americans were like "man getting invaded and the white house burnt down really is a waste of time let's just stop this"

but who really gets the last dab?

canadians are just milquetoast americans

>milquetoast
Nice word

>milquetoast
not on here certainly

Go again then?

Neither side wanted to continue the war

technically a victory because uk was the aggressor and the peace treaty was status quo ante bellum, ie, a war for nothing

We were also the aggressors

uk decided to force draft american sailors for their war in europe and us invaded canada

The whole war was about ending Canada's existence and Canada still exists today. So how can anyone claim that mutts won when they didn't even achieve their military objective?

canada wasn't a thing back then
it was actually called the canadas, upper and lower canada with quebec in the middle

The Jeffersonians were huge extremely hostile against the British. After they won the election of 1800, they failed to renew the Jay Treaty.

Washington was a master diplomat who Jefferson tried to copy. Jefferson thought he could outsmart the British. Unfortunately, the British government was called the "All Talents" because it was literally filled with the best politicians of the day. They weren't going to bow to Jefferson.

Because both sides ultimately enjoyed what came next. The British secured themselves in North America, thus free to mess around in India. The Americans used the war as an excuse to remove Native American authority, thus opening up colonization of the West.

weren't you guys waging war with the Seminoles at the same time?

> 1812

Seminole War was right after this.

At this time, Florida was owned by the Spanish. During the War of 1812, we managed to conquer it. Native Americans tribes like the Creek used Florida as a safe-haven. We promised to return it to Spain after the war ended in 1815, but by 1818, Native Americans were continuing to use Florida as a hideout after they would attack the USA

Andrew Jackson (the future President) pursued the Native Americans into Florida. He used this as an opportunity to basically steal Florida from Spain. But we ended up just buying Florida

hmm l see, seems not only Native Americans but also BLACK WARRIORS Seminole participated in the war, why didn't you guys just keep occupying Florida instead of purchasing it in 1830 or so

>1830
it was 1819 sorry
