This thread is for the discussion of the language, culture, travel, daily life, etc. of Japan. Let's tark at randam in Japanese and English. Take it easy!
To this day, Japan is the only country to ever have a nuclear bomb detonated on its soil. Kumamoto was the original target of the atomic bomb dropped by the U.S. Air Force on Hiroshima. On the day of the flight in April 1945, Kumamoto was covered in clouds, and the bomber passed it by, dropping the bomb on Hiroshima instead.

it would be quite arrogant for me to claim to know

this is Jow Forums. arrogance is the name of the game.
Finland goes well with pretty much all of Western Europe, adding in Estonia and maybe the US but maybe not. I would like to add to the list Japan of course but in reality i don't know too much about Japan or japanese people In the end Finland is a boringly similar to western european countries in general, though obviously there are some, even quite drastic differences.
I think this means "please don't violently shake or drop the baby". But –しないで is only modifying 落. I think this implies 振って is negative but I'm not sure. Could someone help explain this?

That’s ok, I think you can consider しない the main verb and the other parts are veing modified by it if you use the construction ーたりーたりしないでください。 The たり ending is a kind of conjunction that works like that.
Isaiah Brown
The sentence doesn't sound correct. 赤ちゃんを強く振っ*た*り、落とし*たり*しないでください。 The -tari form is used when a sequence of verbs occur in a row. When the sentence ends with negative, it modifies all the verbs.
Gabriel Anderson
Thanks you guys, that makes sense.
Is there a better way to say it? Is there a better verb choice, maybe?
Julian Ward
Oh sorry, I realize you corrected it in your post. I'm dumb

don't you want to be a grown man and do something meaningful to the society? don't you want to be respected by women for what you do and money you make?

>don't you want to be a grown man and do something meaningful to the society? Yes I do, I've thought about wanting to advance VR technology. But then again, I don't mind being a nobody. I love the people around me and I live on a daily basis. Isn't that okay?
>don't you want to be respected by women for what you do and money you make? I don't care about being respected by women for what I do. I like the way life is right now, I've got food, water, and a house to live in. What I already have is what I appreciate. I know what I can do user, when you see things that are beyond comprehension you realize that everything you want to do and become is just a few doors to the right. The question is whether I have the motivational drive to open it and go inside. The answer is I don't.
It's okay for now, but you don't know how long it's going to stay that way... those people you love will eventually move on. Do not live on a daily basis...be prepared for rainy days.
Im looking for a bento box, it cant be pinku (thats japanese for pink) or any girl color. It has to be of 2 or more kotoba (thats japanese for 2 compartments) and has be be chibi (small) sized. And has to be really kawaii (cute). Also It has to be about 10-20 bux. And you have to post pics of it first (i want to make shure it's kawaii [cute]). And it would be nice if it came with matching chopstick holder (WITH chopsticks). OH! and it CANNOT have any cartoon pictures, or be made out of plastic. It has to be made of ceramic, or something like that. Also it would be nice if it was made in japan. and not in china or corea (korea) or whatever. I have found a bento box similar to the one im describing in e-bay, but it was 1 kotoba, and i dont want my gohan (rice) to touch my other things (it can get wet and i would not like that, plus 2 compartments looks more kawaii)
don't listen to me. i'm just bullshitting. if you are happy with the way you are and the situation you are in, all you need to do is to try keeping them that way. Sometimes it's harder than accepting changes though.

Japan is the largest automobile producer in the world, and the Japanese company Toyota is the third largest automaker in the world. It was founded by Kiichiro Toyoda who changed the “da” for “ta” because it sounds clearer. Also, written in Katakana script, “Toyota” uses 8 brush strokes, a number considered to be lucky in Japan.
