Instead of breadcrumbs the chicken in fast food (Mcdonalds, KFS, etc.) uses something called Basin (made from gramflour) as a coating here. It's delicious, though, but if you're a hardcore fried chicken enthusiast you might find it heretical.

They had "alpine" hamburgers with Carniolan sausage a few times as a special offer. I wouldn't know what else they have had, I haven't been to Mcdonalds in years.

Actual "gourmet" hamburgers with very peculiar ingredients selected by the renowned american chef, Joe Bastianich, he's very popular here in Italy. This year we got a new chicken burger with mushroom cream and alto adige speck (in addition to the typical salad and tomatoes).
