if there is a problem of public defecation in san francisco it is because there are no public toilets available. where are they going to shit if they do not have access to toilets? the streets. if san francisco would at least use portable toilets then its streets would probably not be covered with as much shit as they are. in washington, there is comparatively little public facilities than to private facilities. in the core of tacoma there are, as far as i know, only two pairs of public toilets and the doors to one of the pairs are always locked while the other pair is in a state of filth and neglect. if you want to use a toilet you must use the one owned by starbucks or subway or any other private business, they may or may not allow you to use their toilet. other than tacoma, seattle is a larger city and you have more opportunities to find a toilet to use, normally mcdonald's will let you use their toilet with no questions asked and no locked doors and the streets of seattle arent covered with shit despite the growing population of thousands of homeless. my observations of my countrymen have shown that by and large they despise the homeless populations, they are seen with disgust and contempt. they want them gone but they will do nothing to aid them or remove them, when you propose the idea of public housing or public toilets or anything else in the category of 'public' they reject such ideas because it is 'socialist' (and socialism is "a great evil") or because they do not want to pay extra taxes to help these 'bums'. the homeless population continues to grow and these problems will only continue to get worse, but no effective solutions are being put into place. god bless america.
