Isn’t Georgia basically russia now?

Atlanta, Georgia

checked. ordered a dell keyboard from azerbaijan once because the shipping was cheaper and faster than from the uk.

In what way exactly?

Russia exerts total military control over Abkhazia (the Northwestern corner of the country) and South Ossetia (between the Russian border and a little bit South of the city of Ts'khinvali), with occasional forays into the immediate adjacent Georgian parts of those regions. However, it should be pointed out that South Ossetia is incredibly empty: its total population is about 53,000. Even Abkhazia has a relatively small population, at less than 250,000. For comparison, the rest of Georgia has 3.7 million people. Those contested regions are really more about strategic clay than anything else (having more black sea coast, a mountainous buffer state and positions very close to any target in the Southern Caucasus is probably quite useful for the Russians).

Churka or ciurka was a term to describe ethnic russians (slavs) who fled from the mongol invaders, usually hiding in their traditional ovens

dumb traveling phoneposter

No one in the region is strong enough to challenge Russia and the US is on the other side of the globe. It sucks but it is what it is.

>Churka or ciurka was a term to describe ethnic russians (slavs) who fled from the mongol invaders

Made me chuckle

Such is the fate of small countries which border Russia. But who knows, maybe things will improve for them in the future. After all, the Baltic countries used to be the fucktoys of Russia, but now they're better than ever.

Will the georgians seize to be a country? Genuinely asking

wtf why wouldn't it? It just won't have NATO bases on it's territory, that's it.

Well, they were even better during interwar since they had zero so called Russians but I guess it's still much better than under so called Russia.

>wtf why wouldn't it?
Well, after all, Russia took huge advantage of the fact that South Ossetian separatists started attacking Georgian villages (despite the ceasefire agreement from the 90's), and as soon as Georgia responded, Russia suddenly occupied all of South Ossetia (which it still occupies to this day), it also took advantage and opened a second front in Abkhazia (because reasons lol), and even occupied other parts of Georgia (e.g. Gori).

Given all of that, it's easy to imagine that Russia might just randomly decide to annex the entire thing some day.

Maybe their retarded president shouldn't have started shit with Russia and then ran away. It's entirely their fault.

>South Ossetian separatists started attacking Georgian villages
That's bullshit though. Georgians attacked first.

Thing is though, South Ossetians were the ones who started shelling Georgian villages.

In the end it was still a retarded decision by Georgia (just as many of their decisions from the 90's were retarded), especially from a pragmatic perspective. But I'd argue that from a moral perspective they're not the ones who are most to blame. After all, throughout the 90's and the Russo-Georgian War, the ones who have been consistently ethnically cleansed have always been Georgians. It's therefore really, really hard to take the side of Ossetians, Abkhazians, and by extensions Russians.

This

A classified note from the US embassy in Georgia at the time (which was later leaked by Wikileaks) indicates that, to the best of their knowledge, it really was the Ossetians who started shelling Georgian targets.

> by US
lol

>the US embassy
gee, i wonder why they think so

>Thing is though, South Ossetians were the ones who started shelling Georgian villages.
That's bullshit.
>throughout the 90's and the Russo-Georgian War, the ones who have been consistently ethnically cleansed have always been Georgians
Ethnically cleansed by Abkhazians?
Obviously it would say that, you can't trust that kind of thing at all, it was just the American official position. Especially considering that Saakashvili has ties to the CIA and was and still remains their stooge, so they have a vested interest in the matter.
An independent EU investigation found that Georgia instigated the conflict in S. Ossetia.

the Caucasus belongs to Russians
