Nuclear power is the source of 75% of the energy production in France
Germany spent estimated $680 billion to transition to renewables

France emissions (tons per capita): 4,57
Germany emisssions (tons per capita): 8,89

Why do they do this

Despite being good at engineering the Germans are some of the most anti-science niggas to ever walk this world.

Their nuclear weapons program during WW2 was borderline alchemist pseudoscience. Same with their Nazi racial theories.

They backed off from nuclear power but since renewable energy is much harder to come by than gas or coal they're emitting more greenhouse gasses.
But it's not like nuclear waste is much better.
If only more countries would contribute to the research of renewable energy...

CO2 emissions are going to destroy Europe, so of course Germany is going to make as much of it as possible.

Oil and gas companies are already pumping NGO s like Greenpeace full of money to protest against nuclear and for renewables don't you worry about that.

that may be the case but they still ignore those facts
besides I have never said that we shouldnt be doing something about the issuse as well

Nobody ignores 'these facts' and thus far the average Chink only causes 1/3rd the pollution Americans and Germans cause.

Nuclear waste is a timebomb waiting to happen.
Besides, a friend of mine is Romanian and born a year after Chernobyl happened. He said most of his classmates were born with black, brittle teeth. Shit's scary man. Imagine if the nuclear waste leaks into ground water.
Germany partially pulled out of Nuclear energy because of Fukushima.

waiting how long?
we're mostly nuclear and you can't say france is a hardcore right wing country

Source?

Also do you know how many plants there are? There have only been 2 major disasters, it's a low percentage honestly

Of course, there's no argument against it except for fearmongering

That the only argument against migration is fearmongering, but the right wing internet teens won't have it. So why the 180 on nuclear?

I don't think many people are actually against migration except for far right parties. It's about mass migration. I don't see how there's a 180 on nuclear?

Nuclear waste isn't all that more toxic than a bunch of other hazardous materials that end up in public landfills.

It's much easier to contain the the fertilizers we put in our food and end up fucking up the waterbeds or the factory and car smoke that we breathe in everyday. Living near a high traffic road increases your cancer rate more than living near a nuclear power plant - whose increased risk of cancer boils down to 0.

btw I don't agree with the addition of biomass to the fossil fuels block, since biomass is renewable, and it can even be low on carbon maybe even neutral someday, since it turns carbon that was already in the short carbon cycle (carbon contained in living things specially plants) and was going to get out to the atmosphere soon even if you didn't burn it. Like, burning a tree never puts out more CO2 than the CO2 that tree gobbled up from the atmosphere to grow that much; timber could be carbon neutral fuel if we planted more trees, like the Nordics do.

tfw I'm probably 10 times more environmentally friendly than most environmental protesters despite not really giving a fuck about the environment because I'm an introverted poorfag

solid waste in a container in a cave under a mointain

Nearly all energy sources are directly dependent on the oil industry. Without oil:
No machinery to forage, extract, carry and mash up the tremendous amount of metal or rare components to build up windmills or solar pannels
No transport to evacuate nuclear waste or carry specialists in case of need to nuclear power plants
list goes on

The day it will cost one barrel of petroleum to extract one barrel of petroleum, everything will crumble, and we will fall back to the way of life of the early 20th century. Only back then, they still had coal too.

I would consider myself right wing but I don't like nuclear

there's no argument against it

The waste from nuclear fission is radioactive, and lasts for fucking millions of years.
Some people don't like pumping those kinds of by-products into the environment

that's kind of a retaded logic, desu.

ofcourse, you have to be dependent on oil till everything on earth is electricity powered, but that shouldn't prevent you from exploiting nuclear power.

Engineering is fun, i love building and tinkering with shit.
But every fucking assignment in uni has to have a huge chunk of it be about the climate effect of what you do how its built, how it functions, energy conservation.

Hell even fucking driving, when you do your practical test for your drivers license the teacher will check if you’re ”ecodriving”.

This shit has gone too far desu

Because until this very day humans still haven't found a solution for thr long term storage problem of nuclear waste. In the end it was an overhyped technology that fell short on delivering on its promises with unresolved security while becoming outdated over time.
