1: We could have focused our efforts and likely won the war quickly, but we didn't. Personally, I would love for the US to have a better relationship with Vietnam. It's a wonderful country with great people in it, and a cooperative relationship between the US and Vietnam would be a great hedge to China's attempts at power grabs in the region. But personal opinions aside, that's something that would have to develop organically.
