I think I'm having a stroke. I understand every word and every bit of grammar in this article and I still haven't got the slightest fucking clue what it's saying.

did anyone else here give up on learning japanese after taking a painstakingly long time to finish one route of a really bad VN?

Attached: clockwork leyline.jpg (1280x720, 250K)

No I drop VNs pretty easily and move on to something else

it's the first thing i've ever really read and i felt like there wouldn't be anything interesting available that's as easy so i just stuck with it. from this point maybe i can dive into material that is medium difficulty and more interesting but nothing really catches my eye so i don't know what i'm gonna read.

It sounds like it's about a multi-level marketing scheme that a bunch of people fell for and then got pissed off about.

Muramasa for sure.

I think I've dropped twice as many VNs that I've finished. They're just super exhausting mentally -- the feeling of not "getting" everything coupled with the fact that the stories aren't always interesting.
RPGs and h-games are where it's at.

I've never played VNs, but I love the Opening Song of nursery rhyme the most.

Does Tobira cover more grammar than DoJG?

夏目漱石
森鴎外
芥川龍之介
太宰治
宮沢賢治
島崎藤村
志賀直哉
谷崎潤一郎
川端康成
三島由紀夫

I kinda glanced at Tobira but I really doubt it covers even a fraction as much as DoJG or HJGP. Looks like a cool book, though.

Attached: 無題.png (1265x893, 1.45M)

I asked because I was curious why so many people on reddit talked about using Tobira after Genki instead of DoJG which I assumed covered more grammar points, but I guess I've got my answer (it's reddit). I went through the DoJG anki deck and now I just consult DoJG while reading.

I think many people on there are aiming to pass the JLPT, and Tobira is probably great for that.
You're still learning textbook Japanese, however, and you'll still get your ass kicked if you try to move to "real" Japanese like in novels/manga.

They often end up making these articles more vague in an attempt to dumb them down.

Is it possible to remove furigana from the HTML version of novels on netlify?

djtguide.neocities.org/djtlib_link.txt

I suppose you could use JNovelFormatter to make the ruby color the same as the background

rt { display: none; } in the global.css stylesheet.
I wouldn't recommend doing so because sometimes the furigana is important.

Thanks. I guess I won't disable it then. But I can't stop myself from looking at the furigana and it feels like cheating.

Am I right in thinking that the typical light novel volumes I'm seeing for stuff like とらドラ seem much shorter than VNs rated as medium-length on VNDB?

VNs are purposely bloated since they're one and done. Light novels are meant to be "light reading" but can have volume after volume.

It sounds like you're talking about verbs in particular. I'm still fucking terrible, so anons can correct me, but from what I've seen, を is used a lot with transitive verbs and が with intransitives.

Coming across this idiom
>盗人を捕らえてみれば我が子なり
should the 見る be understood as the full verb here or the auxiliary?

Do you see a kanji?

>the auxiliary
this.
As the Pole said it was written in hiragana therefore it should be regarded as a 補助動詞, but as you wondered it makes sense even if it was read as "arrest then see the face", like
>盗人を捕らえて縛れば我が子なり
>I found the thief being my own child after arresting and tying him up.
and if that idiom was spoken there is no measure to tell one from another.
However, according to my gut feeling as a native, it sounds
>I attempted to catch the thief and succeeded, then it turned out that he was my own child
desu.

Just to be sure, do I get this right, and they actually count "thinking" as harassment?

I'm at a Japanese language school, we're halfway through Minna no Nihongo 2, and I signed up for N3 this July...have I made a huge mistake?

Probably

Attached: Oh My Goddess! v04 (2007) (digital) (Jaeger-Empire) 061.jpg (471x396, 105K)

(Though I don't mean that can't reach N3 by July. 頑張って下さい!)

It's just that both classes and N3 are generally looked down upon here

Yea because the N3 is useless. Apart from that as long as you're not terribly behind on Kanji everything should be easy enough.
