DJT is a Japanese language 勉強スレ for 人々 interested in the language, anime, manga, visual novels, light novels and Japanese video games. Japanese speakers learning English are welcome, too. No Australians.
抗 in 抗日 is like "against" , so its like "(fight) against Japan" Koreans are praising ex-overload "両班" as their heros , who fought against Japan and (( had been oppressing them and treating them as slaves for a thousand years until Korea was annexed by Japan )) -- their hero -- 安重根 : A Korean noble who assassinated the first Japanese prime minister 伊藤博文 in front of Russian troops , who was disagree to the annexation . 金日成 : North Korea dictator 金正恩's grandpa . He called himself as 金日成 who was a probably famous Korean noble , although its said that the real 金日成's age was different from the fat boy's grandpa's . Both were in Soviet Union before they started their action against Japan .
反日 is simply "anti-Japan"
排 in 排日 is like "to remove" , so its like "to remove Japanese things and stuffs" After Japan was defeated by the US , South Korean tried to remove every single Japanese shits ((which contained human who were pro-Japan , they executed gigantic population))
Asher Reed
The culprit jumped from window to window... Before everyone could hear the victim's screams and come running... That's why there were no footprints outside the window.
訳がお分かりです the reason is understood 分かる in the お…です honorific form
Dominic Scott
What would be a good way to say, it does not work? By work I mean functioning, eg. The computer does not work. 確かに、パソコンがこわられた。 でも、to use do not work パソコンは働かない いいですか? I think it is a form of 訳が分からない. My interpretation is this.
This is the conclusion I have come to understand, perhaps. (でしょう)

I have two questions from this text if someone doesn't mind helping: 1. Can 通常にはね mean rephrased to それ故に here? 2. Does 知らんがな mean "I don't care!", or possibly "how am I supposed to know?!" in this case? Context was the character explaining something and ended up making it more nonsensical.
Oh so これで is like "Because of this/due to this, I understand the reason there are no footprints."
Lucas Campbell
How did you infer that 通常にはね means "What is it?"
I believe 知らんがな is meant to be "How would I know?" or "Wow that is surprising" because the weapon is said to have a lot of destructive power. However it is described as non-violence
Nicholas Cooper
It may mean "From this, we can tell..."

お分かりです is a 尊敬語 form (honorific speech, elevates the performer of the action). You do not use it to refer to yourself.
>これで、窓の外に足跡がなかった訳がお分かりでしょう… From this, surely you have come to understand the reason that there were no footprints outside the window? お分かりでしょう is like 分かっているでしょう in 尊敬語.

why are you so obsessed with Korean people ? kim san
Tyler Baker
So my sentence was correct?
Jack Johnson
absolutely not
Elijah Ward
What grammatical mistakes did I make?
Connor Gonzalez
its not grammatical , kim san . you used a wrong word that probably doesnt exist in Japanese .
Jack Johnson
But you understand what I was trying to say, right? Show me how you would say it.
Cameron Martinez
you know Im a native Japanese , so if you slightly mistook it in any sense , I can decipher it . and if you wanna keep this conversation , you would better answer my question I asked .
Nathaniel Johnson
You sure you're not that Argentinean pedophile living in Japan? The one that got fired?
Adam Carter
Can anyone correct this for me? To say that something is not working, not functioning
Jonathan Moore
>The computer does not work. I would say パソコンが(うまく)動かない
Isaac Taylor
Try using Google Translate. I'm sure you know it's free and easy af to use. translate.google.com
それとも You can understand the cause that there were no footprints outside the window, can't you? の方がよいか? 結局のところ、「わけ」をreasonと訳すかcauseと訳すか問題なんたけど、英語的にはどうなのか?

Person A on Twitter: 何頼んだ? (Caption for an illustration of a man sitting alone at a café) Person B: 「加わってもいいですか?」 Person A: [Person B's name]は何頼んだの?
Mainly I don't understand the だの at the end, as opposed to just だ
Robert Myers
何頼んだ? sounds manly or could sound roughly but that doesnt mean unfriendly . 何頼んだの? sounds mindful
Hudson Collins
and youd better not to use 何頼んだの? to your seniors . it would sounds looking down upon them
Ryder Reyes
Ah, thank you. How would it sound saying that to an equal or junior?
David Stewart
both 何頼んだ and 何頼んだの can be used to junior and equal. but not to senior I would say to senior 何頼みましたか or 何頼んだんですか
Ethan Kelly
Give me an example sentence using に対して that I would actually use in everyday conversation.
Carter Rogers
the difference between to equal/junior and to senior is whether there is 丁寧語 or not.
Gavin Wilson
Anyone seen this? It's set in the post apocalypse and they speak in made up English. But in a way that native speakers can still understand the meaning. It might be interesting for a non native speaker to watch it and see if they can understand what's being said.
hinative.com/ja/questions/359683 the core meaning of 対して is something like "against" or "confront" , I guess. Although when the 対 is read as つい , it means "pair".
you can also use it this way : Aは…だが(それに対して)Bは…だ。that compares with A and B. this page below might help your understanding eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/63651/

small question, I see いろいろ being used all the time, but I really don't understand the expression, yomichan says it means various, but every time I turn on the english subs in daiweeb I never see something like that. Either the english subs are shit or I'm missing something.
your small question is stupid, post an example of いろいろ being used that you don't understand or go away >or I'm missing something this is probably the correct choice 98% of the time

>毎回答えるたびに失礼なコメント はて、何のことでしょう? Japanese particle at the end of sentence の adds no meaning to the sentence That is the same meaning of [Person B's name]は何頼んだ
There's no way to say "Looks like shit" in Japanese, is there? I mean you could literally say something resembles feces but it wouldn't convey the meaning it does in English.
Isaiah Gray
It's best to teach them how to shoot at a young age, something our school system fails to do
I was thinking looks like shit as in "looks bad/low quality/not good" Like you're with your friend at the movie theater and a trailer for a really bad movie plays. You lean over and say "Looks like shit"
Noah Cook
I think the closest equivalent would be クソ or クソったれ. Things like クソゲー or クソったれな映画. One example sentence: >Pardon my French, but this looks like shit. 失礼、でもこれがほんとにくそったれな感じなので But I don't think these can be used as a catch-all similar to "looks like shit." 趣味の悪い, 質が悪い, かっこ悪い can all be used to similar effect, imo. You aren't going to see someone using クソに似てる when conveying the same meaning, anyways.
