I'll admit it, it's mostly only an issue with the southeast/midwest but not blindly defending everything your country does makes you a traitor to them. Ironically these same people will cry about the government for hours every day

The war hysteria was pretty crazy at the time.
I still remember this video where they were showing how Saddam could nuke anywhere in the world within fifteen minutes notice or something like that.

No but remember people thought Saddam did 9/11 (with Iran) and that he had nuclear weapons in briefcases that he would use to destroy the west. The obvious lies around this weren't discovered until about 2005 or so, after Bush won his second term.
