Is it normal to experience extreme difficulties when you're translating a sentence yet you have an intermediate proficiency on the language you're trying to learn? Is trying to become a more fluent speaker and a better writer very different than doing a translation from one language to another?

I tried

Not really. I'm very poor at constructing sentences and I want to improve it further. It turns out that I speak like a fucking sperg when I was introducing myself and they said they didn't understand a thing I said. Afterwards, they gave me a paper that they need translating, it seemed really basic but I had an incredibly hard time. It was so different when I was casually talking to a friend, I actually wonder if conversing in Mandarin and translating English to Chinese is vastly different?

Does anyone have a decent guide to learning the full IPA?

I was going through the wikipedia page (upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/8e/IPA_chart_2018.pdf) plus listening to audio of each symbol but I've got confused. I thought chart for English phonemes was just a subset of the full IPA, but it seems like the diphthongs aren't on the full IPA. I thought the full IPA would allow me to know the sounds used in every language.

I just want to learn every symbol using an example word, I don't need to know the acoustic anatomy of every sound yet.

"Appena" means you just did something, it doesn't make much sense with a verb in present tense, so it's either "Anzi, adesso chiamo la polizia" or "Anzi, ho appena chiamato la polizia"

German (informal): (Ich) danke dir -> danke
German (formal): Ich danke Ihnen -> danke (sehr/schön/...)
basically just a less contracted version, reasonably common I'd say
in an informal context there is little if any diffence between the two, akin to English
'less contracted = more formal' isn't true here since it contains a form of 'du', so it can never be formal (thus not ommitting the 'Ich' only makes it sound a little weird)
whereas the plain 'danke' leaves the pronoun up in the air, thus being applicable in both contexts
