We don't actually call it an empire, we just call it the era of great power, stormaktstiden in swedish. It's only in English that it's called an empire for some reason. The only cool thing about it was that we had the strongest military in Europe for a brief time.

Honestly I'm perfectly fine with it. I feel quite content with the achivements of Sweden in a historical context especially given our very small population, but I think it's important for us to not be stuck in the past but to focus on the present. Obviously we never got close to creating the fantastic wonders of Rome or Greece, but I can live with that.
