4. A middle class never properly developed--Eastern Europe remained a land of poor peasants living in serfdom on feudal estates
5. The educational systems traditionally value liberal arts and philosophy over STEM
6. The Renaissance only affected Catholic regions such as Poland, it didn't touch the Orthodox areas half of which were under Ottoman occupation

It should be noted although Czechia today is considered Eastern European, historically it was seen as Central Europe. Unlike Romania or something, the Czech lands had a thriving middle class since medieval times, an industrial base, and participated in all the major political and cultural upheavals Europe experienced over time.

Slovakia was the complete opposite, the place was always the ultimate impoverished Eastern European shithole with little economic base outside subsistence agriculture and it was also a Hungarian province for a millenia.
