Why is Japan so desired while even civilized Asian countries like Korea are much less so?

youtube.com/watch?v=tbNlMtqrYS0

I mean overrated
They are over hated too, fuck korea and china

what do you mean? Korean restaurants are everywhere here, Korean music plays in a lot of shops and on the radio, Korean cosmetics are extremely popular, and every girl watches Korean dramas. Korean girls are also very popular with the guys in Asia

Jow Forums is based on a Japanese image board.

Japanese black and white films, samurai and ninja films in general, anime spanning decades and so on

Millions of people with nostalgic memories of their childhood (giant robots, ninjas, samurais, fairy tales from Japan etc) along with more modern media.

Japan has a following globally. Μαkαρονάδα!

eyes, here at least
japanese women aren't as squinty as korean or chinese women

AHHHH

Koreaboos are much rarer than weebs in the west though. Both had extensive contact with the US thus had a chance for cultural exchange with the West but it seems only Japan left a mark while interest for Korea is much more recent.

Not talking about Jow Forums specifically.

guess i gotta go there

Korea was literally a developing country 40 years ago, it's not exactly surprising their culture hasn't yet left a mark internationally

Ko***rea was nothing without the Japanese annexation.
It was just an irrelevant peninsula where poorest indigenous Asians had lived in, no different than let's say Native Americans in America, eskimos in Canada, or indigenous Asians in the Kamchatka peninsula of Russia.
Japan brought civilization to Ko***rea, the US/Soviet split it into North/South, and those indigenous Asians started calling themselves "We are North/South Koreans!"
