More like unification being so late was a tragedy

Had they unified earlier they could've been much richer and not have come under any foreign domination

another freemasonic tragedy.

I just think Italy (post gothic italy at least) peaked in the city states form and the age of nationalism forced an unnatural union of the peninsula.
Same for Germany and the end of the HRE desu.

yet another freemasonic tragedy

It is quite accurate, it was forced. I feel Italy like one thing, but it is also fragmented in 100 and unification in that specific moment and way damaged the south a lot.

It's true that after the italian wars and the italic league, italy could have formed a nation state like the other european powers (France, Spain, England etc.) did.

The poverety in 19-20th Italy is the consequence of the lack of industrialisation before anything else.

Yeah the south got fucked pretty hard economy-wise in the last 150 years.

North-Italy has been much longer part of the HRE than it has been part of the "unified" italy.
everything north of naples belongs to germany.

>Italy? You mean the province of the Spanish empire right?

Germans even colonised your shithole.

Berbers arguably held more germanics territories in the 8th than the vandals in did in modern day algeria in the 5th.

>the south is greek clay
that's pretty based

Sicily is unironically greek, pretty cool desu.

>The genetic contribution of Greek chromosomes to the Sicilian gene pool is estimated to be about 37%
