However, they can live in cities because they live in people's homes and prey on cockroaches.

Wolf spiders are pretty much the biggest ones you'll see regularly around here (western Canada), but they're found everywhere on earth except for at the poles. Black widows are afaik the only dangerous ones around here but I've yet to see one.

The worst ones are mostly in the Sun Belt as you would expect.
