How far left would they be in your country?

Basically, if someone with their views were to run for office in your country, how far to the left (or right) would people consider them to be? For example, it seems that a lot of the things they propose are already in place in, say, Sweden, so it seems that people in Sweden would consider them to be centrist or maybe center-left. However, some of their views, particularly views regarding social issues like gay rights and immigration, may be considered farther to the left in, say, Serbia. It would be interesting to if America were to end up with a president that's considered left-wing even by, say, Scandinavian standards.

just like in your country, both would considered hardcore commies here

They are probably considered nazis or something in Europussy

If talking about about economic policies, normal left or center-left. If talking about political views on the venezuelan crisis or abortion, most here would consider far-left.

literal centrists in europe

Didn't you guys try to elect a socialist back in the 1970's until the U.S. backed a coup that chased him out? Are there still people in Chile who like socialism or did most of them give up on it after the coup?

center left probably. hard to say since the spectrum is very different.
Our traditional left progressively shifted to the right on economic matters during the last two decades.

>USA is so ZOGGED that practical universal healthcare is considered radical and communist

chileans don't talk about allende

Most countries adopted universal healthcare when half the population was poor as fuck and couldn't afford any care at all. USA is rich so it makes no sense to adopt it at this point.

americans think it's government stealing money, they don't understand the concept of common good

Left of the conservative party but slightly to the right of slightly less conservative party in our essentially two party system.
Warren seems like a pretty bog standard neolib while Sanders has a couple of fiscal programs policies that are noticeably more modern. The rest of the Democrat party candidates seem like typical right wing ghouls pushing to protect the western imperialist neoliberal global status quo and the Republican party candidates are a straight up pastiche of fascism. Cartoonishly evil.

Both the communist and socialist parties are very big in terms of members, however those parties believe in social democracy (center-left). But I think that the mindset of the average chilean is very right winged.
not true

Fuck off retard. Go back to Beijing

Compared to the general population, Bernie would probably be a bit further left. Compared to the actual leaders of our two main parties (which are both economically right-wing), he would be Stalin-tier. Our actual left-wing party (NDP) cares more about identity politics than labour issues nowadays, so I'd argue he would be more to the left of them economically.

Depends, Bernie economics policy would probably be centrist, shy leftist.
Their positions on social question goes from center left to far left.

Standard socdem for the most part but reparations and a wealth tax is still quote outlandish even if it honestly is just retoric used to become the presidential candidate

Lol do you honestly think any of us here can afford a medical emergency? We can barely afford rent with 5 roommates.

>USA is rich so it makes no sense to adopt it at this point.
It makes evem more sense for a country like the USA to adopt a single payer system with government level price negotiations. They stand to save more public expenditure by doing so.
The negative impact of millions of people without adequate healthcare is a massive drain on GDP through lost productivity and excessive costs down the line when individual health problems become exacerbated and medical emergencies end up costing the tax payer vastly more than it would if they had proper healthcare to avoid such escalation.
Privately managed health insurance and multinational pharmaceutical producers dictating the cost of medicine doesn't make sense from the point of the patient. It only exists to make money for a parasitic institution. The former has no reason to exist and the latter should not be allowed to market themselves to the individual.

I've never been to China, you fucking stupid yank.
Everything in my post was accurate.

Universal healthcare SUCKS. The only way you decrease costs is by encouraging the private sector and getting government the hell out of the way.

no you set up a common market system by the government so the price remains competitive

New law: No surgery for anyone over 60
Wow look at that healthcare is adorable again

normal left wing

healthcare is expensive because government incentive monopolization of drug copyrights

The government kills competition. Look at what Obama did in trying to force everyone to buy insurance.

Want lower prices? Encourage more private insurers to set up so there is more competition in the market and lower prices. It’s that simple

obamacare is not a competive product, it's a type of tax

if you want to look at something look at why canadians gets the same drugs for 1/40 of our prices

And their system is much more inefficient. Wait times are incredibly long in Canada compared to the US

their wait times are long because there isn't enough doctors, not because the system is inherently bad

or you can have it here where majority of people can't afford emergency health expenses, an inherently class based system where you are unfairly placed out of affordable healthcare if you have pre-conditions and the like

See

There is no fucking way you're Australian, with those yank buzzwords.

No it is inherently bad. The US has the highest survivorship rates in the world for almost every type of cancer. Every country with "universal healthcare" has lower survivorship rates.

You are just repeating left wing talking points. ER will never refuse treatment to you simply because you can't afford to pay. That is just false and insulting to the medical profession.

using an estimate that even bernie sanders has quoted in favor of his policies, its been estimated that implementing medicare for every US citizen would cost roughly 32 trillion dollars over a 10 year period. and thats taking into account talking down prices through collective bargaining like the government already does for medicare patients. Also keep in mind medicare isnt even "free" healthcare that a lot of other countries enjoy.

to put this in perspective the current US government budget (both discretionary and non discretionary spending) is about 3.8 trillion dollars. Our tax revenue is about 3.2 trillion.

lets say that we completely eliminate military spending (about 600 billion a year) and put it all towards this plan. that would leave about 2.6 trillion more than we currently spend or about 81% of our current tax revenue. Lets also assume that we will increase our deficit but keep our deficit to spending ratio the same so we will take on n extra 486 billion annual debt and increase tax revenue by 2.1 trillion dollars. this would require increasing current tax revenues by about 65.6%.
Good luck with that one

Universal healthcare will destroy the US economy. It's estimated that "Medicare for All" will cost the US budget 14 trillion over a decade. The current size of the US budget is 3 trillion.

based Chapo listener

ER won't refuse but they will throw you out into the street right after

i can insult the medical profession because they are quite literally the cancer that's killing working america

Even a libertarian think tank backed by the fucking Koch brothers came to the conclusion that universal healthcare would end up being cheaper
Kill yourself retard
>Blahous’s paper, titled “The Costs of a National Single-Payer Healthcare System,” estimates total national health expenditures. Even though his cost-saving estimates are more conservative than others, he acknowledges that Sanders’s “Medicare for All” plan would yield a $482 billion reduction in health care spending, and over $1.5 trillion in administrative savings, for a total of $2 trillion less in overall health care expenditures between 2022 and 2031, compared to current spending.
theintercept.com/2018/07/30/medicare-for-all-cost-health-care-wages/

the facts are totally slanted to condition people against challenging the plutocratic norms

the median personal income is something around $25,000 but you also have to consider how much of that is actually disposable and things like debt being carried

when it comes down to it, probably half of the population is struggling with necessity costs like healthcare and that's not going to change if they get put on a substandard obamacare plan where there's no input pool to cover the expenses and the reimbursement rate to providers is only 60%

Did you even read the report you brain dead leftard? The report listed two scenarios. One scenario, yes had those numbers you listed.

But it also discussed an alternate scenario which found that over the same 10-year period, national health expenditures would actually increase by $3.252 trillion.

So you are just cherrypicking from the more favourable of the two estimated. Indeed, the report predicted that the second alternative of increased costs was more likely to occur.

Stop spreading Fake News.
