It's fatherland (očetnjava; you might find it interesting that it's actually a female noun), but that's an archaism. is the commonly used word.

Fatherland, but the personification of Germany is a woman named Germania, similar to Suomi-neito.
Seems rather common though, to personify fatherland as a female character.
Which do swedes use?
the personification of germany is female yes but the personification of the german people is male as "Der Deutsche Michel". not very common in caricature nowadays quite prominent in the past.
Please don't reply to "swedes" that troll/rude towards finns, norwegians, danes and other brotherly nations.
It's always immigrants.
Aotearoa, land of the long white cloud
Is the cloud male or female? Also is that the personification, not what you'd call the land itself? Like we have the Suomi-maiden but the land is still fatherland.
Care to elaborate?
Well I answered a bait, nevermind
didnt answer
It all depends. In most patriotic songs she is refereed to as "domovina" (homeland) which is grammatically female, or simply "majka" (mother). I prefer the latter.
1. hungry
2. parentland (szülőföld)
We use "Patrie" which is obviously linked to Pater (father) but its a female word and we also say Mère-patrie (mother-patrie)
