Has anyone here gone from lazy and procrastinating and wasting time on the internet a lot to hard working, efficient, proactive, etc.?

Have you managed to do it at the drop of a hat, after many many many many false starts?

I did it with gradual change. Start small, you don't want to burn out after a couple months. You really have to think in long timescales. The get rich quick, fix your life instantly, lose weight in 10 days, hyped up instant gratification is fake news.

Fuck no
Not going to be productive for the next 40 years

Going from sales to operations made me soo much more lazy almost want to move back.

Been running everyday and shopping at Costco instead of eating out. Praying I’ll make it out of this and get back to the grind

Op I recommend Charles Duhig book on power of habit. Also Neil Fiore book "the now habit."

Both give very specific advice. Fiore started out helping grad students who were struggling to get their dissertations done -- lots of them would put in 12 hour days but not get much done because of procrastination. He has some good exercises for getting to the heart of procrastination and building a doable schedule.

Duhig reports on latest research on behavioral change. Lots of it comes down to things like (1) tracking what triggers bad habits and (2) starting RIDICULOUSLY small. So in case of triggers, one guy would eat a donut every day midafternoon and got fat. So he started tracking it, realized that walking to get donut was a way to take break in midafternoon and talk with coworker, so he replaced with a different habit. Example of small habits is you want to start flossing your teeth every day, but for some reason you don't do it. So, instead, you decide to have a routine where all you do is take floss out of medicine cabinet and put it on the counter. That's it. Super easy. sounds stupid, right, but the point is, in the moment, your brain thinks, well, fuck, dental floss is right there, I might as well floss. Point is to short circuit the habits that keep you fucked up. Start small and give yourself props for small wins.

Yes dear, it was a very simple learning.. one day I wake up and decide to do the needful. Kindly send me 100 dollar U.S. to my account for more self help details

You seriously haven't heard of "at the drop of a hat"?

I started freelance writing, which is a passion of mine. At first I would give 110% for each project, which would leave me exhausted and bleary but now i set myself a pace, let's say doing 1k words a day, and just stop working for the day when I fill the quota even if I feel I can do more. That helps me do work each day without tiring too much. Start small and steady, then just increase the volume.

yes, i do it every couple years. whatever i do, i go all in

I go in phases from working a ton/smart/hard to just browsing reddit/Jow Forums and planning out next vacation.

This. Everything is cycles. Don't understand people that drone along at the same pace forever.

I recommend therapy and self reflection for you. Dork.
You need to leave.

You are why biz sucks. Lots of good info here, but lots of anons like you just spewing bile. What is the point of your contribution?

I feel so sorry for your parents. They must feel so much shame when they compare you to their friends' children.

it may be correlated with porn and fapping OP

My self esteem isn't decided by my parents' friends' children

>Have you managed to do it at the drop of a hat

Actually yes. I know Peterson gets memed a lot but he kinda gave me the insight into what it takes to just fucking do the goddamn thing you lazy piece of shit. Politics aside if you don't know how to responsibility it's almost impossible to explain. Also caffeine and supplements + a healthy lifestyle change everything. It might not taste immediately as good as frozen mchot burritos and candy coated aspartame but if you don't know what healthy eating feels like it can't be explained to you. Learning how to cook is a godsend.

This was an awesome post. Thank you. Going to look into these books.
