What was the early days of bitcoin like...

What was the early days of bitcoin like? Did small groups of autists stack up like crazy knowing it would moon like crazy, like Jow Forums is doing with chainlink right now?

some fat pedophiles used the currency to buy shit online and a few of them became rich

Either early enough to buy it in bulk to pay for something on the dark web, or you were early enough to have a friend say “buy a few and forget about it,” but that’s really it.

If you only

knew how

bad

things truly are

Either you were doing some shady shit like above mentioned already, or you were a hardcore libertarian autist like Roger Ver

Hmm so only an extremely tiny amount compared to link holders today.
Did anyone have accurate price predictions back then? im guessing basically no one knew it would rise ten thousands of percent

Nobody knew it would moon like crazy, you have to remember it was the first coin... nobody knew what to make of it. I remember when a pump to like $3 was considered a massive giant deal.
I'm sure there were some smart people here and there who realized how cool the tech was but even they probably did not expect it to moon like it has.

Why the fuck does this remind me of the LINK and ETH FUD so much? There's a certain feel of elitist righteousness that's very specific.

Sold my bitcoins at $21 per BTC. AMA

Imagine buying $500 in BTC

Attached: mp,840x830,matte,f8f8f8,t-pad,750x1000,f8f8f8.jpg (750x1000, 87K)

imagine the FUD you see for new coins you see now, like BRAPPer, devery, whatever. that's what it was like. people shat on it and thought its only use case was drugs/darkweb shit. no memes, no moons, just a bunch of autists throwing coins around for lulz. you had shit like that guy spending 10k btc on pizzas which was considered very impressive because of btc's perception of absolute worthlessness.

If you only knew how bad things truly are.

youtube.com/watch?v=YmPg4V-YE0k

On the bright side they will say the same about us buying btc now in 2030.

I was a regular on the bitcoin forum in ~2011. Few people were stacking because it was going to moon. It was like people talking about how to use it, creating small ways to spend it, dude creating the physical bitcoin, then I guess late 2011 is when businses bros showed up to setup shop. Majority did not think it would moon, maybe some thought over many years it might 10x or more. But the usecase of peer to peer digital cash meant a lot of people might sell after selling things so not a lot of incentive to hold. Also everyone was afraid the gov was going to round people up at any moment.

I think it makes sense that a few people became millionaires because of bitcoin since it was the first coin. But i think it's too good to be true that thousands of people suddenly becomes
multi-millionaires with LINK. I have a stack of 4k, but i honestly don't expect to have early bitcoin levels of profit, simply because it seems too good to be true..

Not really. I used to gamble like 30 btc a day not knowing what it'd be worth. Overall I probably wasted over 300 btc and had a total of 112ish in my wallet at one point. It's okay. I made a shit ton of money off IOTA so it is all good.

yeah, probably like 1% or lower of link holders today. noone gave price predictions iirc, the shit was considered absolutely worthless. exchanges (gox, btce) weren't really for trading/speculating like they are today - they were just ways to get money in and out of bitcoin.

yes
some started bragging about it
some of them disappeared

>dude this is fucking dumb
>no dude this is pretty cool
>dude, this is too complicated

i was the last one
why didnt i literally take 10 minutes of my time to work it out?

Thats what people who sold btc at 20 dollars said

People were just excited that they can buy things with almost worthless internet money.

Literally nobody knew what was going to happen and the guys who got rich were lucky

People who fail at everything cope by convincing themselves that it's impossible to make it.

the gov told casascius coin to end operations
I tried to buy a physical bitcoin china fresh block of 25 btc a few years ago and they wouldn't ship to USA due to regulations

this is what they look like
probably will be a major collector's item having an old unmolested block

I autistically checked the wallets in this video a few weeks ago, if anyone is wondering it looks like he probably sold all of his Bitcoin in 2011 assuming he didn't use another wallet.

I mined in slush's pool when it was around $5, I remember mining half a coin in a few weeks with a 6950 that ran at like 93 degrees Celsius. good times

Yes , very little early buyers hold , the only one i found searching their wallets was molymeme , he had like 300 bitcoins if i remember right in his donation wallet.

Yes, there were a few far-sighted autists who said
>This is going to be worth a lot of money someday.
But at the time most people viewed it simply as a way to bypass taxes and buy things. Bitcoin at $20 was the moon back then.

There's truth in this statement. You could buy or mine Bitcoin really easily and buy weed, crack, guns, hits, and child porn on TOR. That was where I was introduced to it. I wish I'd had the courage to mine it, but I was like
>Eh, I can get porn for free

A few weeks before the 1st halving I was mining one bitcoin using a $200 GPU about every two weeks. pic-related

I've sold very little BTC over the years.

Attached: wew_lad.png (1474x1093, 448K)

Good for you. Is it worth joining a mining pool these days?

people were wondering if it would even survive

thinking btc would hit 20k was literally fucking retarded

Oldfag here.

Felt like back in 2011-2012, the "market" was like 500 people total.

>>Eh, I can get porn free
Blow your brains out.

same, I just could not be bothered and I think this is what stooped a lot of peoples

you can mine pi maybe or some other utter shitcoin

From my experience (late 2012), literally no one I talked to saw the real value in it. 99% of the people thought it was a cool idea, that was pretty much it. I bought a few bitcoins back then, but I just held it and forgot about it when I started last year of high school. Later on though I heard about bitcoin pumping like crazy so I came back in and sold it.
So to be honest, almost anyone that brags about buying back then because they saw value in it and the potential for it are just pure liars. A vast, vast majority bought in early and either sold early (then re-bought when it pumped to 1k and got huge bags which they held until the 2017 rally a.k.a pure luck) or simply forgot about it like I did a.k.a also pure luck. I would probably have sold aswell when we hit $250 in mid 2013 if I were still active, so.. thank god for school taking up time.

I was "in it for the tech" as a 15 year old in 2012. I thought with 110% certainty it was going to replace the dollar by 2017. I don't think its potential as a moneymaking enterprise so much as entered my psyche, but I didn't have any money to invest anyhow.
Paid a developer the equivalent of $1.6k ATH in 2016, never once regretted it.
You can't lose sleep over things that never happened.
Do you introduce yourself as a child rapist so casually to people in your personal life? I'm serious what the fuck is wrong with you.

Attached: 1562821182774.jpg (1115x1129, 425K)

>and child porn on TOR. That was where I was introduced to it.

I always thought Bitcoin would be replaced by something better and same with Eth. Now even if something better comes along nothing can have a decade long track record so it's the only crypto you can really trust with large amounts. I did make a bunch of money but nothing like what holding for all this time would have gotten me.

Early days were wonderful. It wasn't about price at that time it was about making a decenetralized p2p currency that could not be debased. It attracted some of the brightest people I have ever had the pleasure to be around. They were all there not to get rich but to solve complex problems and make Bitcoin the best that it can be.

Best of all they did this on an open forum and mailing list. That gave the ability to anyone to watch the process of problem solving and/or participate in it. I was lucky enough to observe the process. Just watching the process and seeing how they approach complex problems and find solutions to them had a profound effect on me. I attribute a lot of my success from being in that enviorment and absorbing their way of thinking.

Unfortunately as Bitcoin gained success and its price rose it attracted the worst kind of people. The ones who didn't know much about Bitcoin but acted as experts, the get rich quick types, and scammers. This drove most development to go to private communications.

As for speculation there were always people who called Bitcoin a dead tulip mania and those who thought it would moon. Every bubble that burst Bitcoin was declared dead even though it has never traded below its pre bubble price. When Bitcoin reaches $100k and it burst to $50k there will be people telling you "see I told you so". Why some continue to dismiss Bitcoins success despite the obvious evidence to the contrary I will never understand all I know is they will continue to dissmiss it no matter what. Some never bought others either sold eventually or spent it and a small portion managed to hodl through all the peaks and troughs.

I tried to mine LTC on my laptop in 2013 and just got tired of the sound of my GPU fan running full blast. Stupid me. Back then I didn't realize you could go on exchanges and just buy it outright.

I first bought it in 2013, I was a dumbass 14 year old though who just wanted to buy drugs online and thought it was cool I got more money sometimes. Didn't get into trading it until 2016 and lost it all on margin anyway. Was mostly just "online drug money"

The place I saw it the most though was plebbit with the magic internet money ads they would run.

because people are very very hard to convice of new things. but I believe there's also trolls and people who just will say the opposite for the sake of it.

and the truth is, the world is full of scams out there, so if it sounds too good its probably not true.

There's literally, literally nothing wrong with it. It's the same as homosexuality, transgenderism, asexualiticness, and polyamory.

I was 17 on Jow Forums b and it was shilled on b sometimes when the guy bought it with pizza. it was basically 5 cents a coin back then. most people thought it was dumb

Attached: 1553231815158.gif (498x498, 207K)

I bought some kind of coin off eBay back in the day. Can't remember what it was or were it is. Can eBay give me records going back to 2011?

At what price did you rebuy?

The only proof you ever need to prove Jow Forums is literally global cesspool of filthy low iq degenerates who will never make it and you should ALWAYS do opposite or whatever you read on here.

>Literally CIA diggers spreading FUD and misinformation while accumulating on the side since 2010

Everyone said that though.

I remember selling 160 at $5 using localbitcoins. I felt like I was ripping off this old dude for buying my Monopoly money in a random McDonalds in the middle of buttfuck nowhere.

I met the guy at a Bitcoin Meetup a few years later, he showed up with literal rolls of Krugerands to trade. Old school goldbug. Dude is probably insanely rich, or dead by now.

And yes, he was an ultra libertarian autist as you'd expect. I was just some kid with free power and some gaming rigs.

>2trillion market cap for a worthless thin air kike ponzi scheme

It doesn't matter what the craze is. Every time there are a few passionate and extremely deluded individuals screaming from the rooftops that it's going to be the next big thing.

This time, it was. Those same dipshits will ever make it because they are crazy and irresponsible enough to go all in on internet money in the first place. Exceptions exist but not many.

Most people using BTC back then were buying it as a proxy for cash to use it (as satoshi intended). Not to hoard it.

I had 300 BTC at once point, and spent it all because that was the point of btc. To spend it. I had 1 btc in my wallet leftover in 2017, and I sold it in June.

Nobody knew it would happen like this.

Genuinely kill yourself. Please.

Child porn just may be the most evil thing on earth. I'm still curious how those videos look like but would never look. Can you answer these questions? Is it all rape or do you actually see children enjoying it? How can an adult penis fit the child vagina?

Thousands of new multi millionaires is pretty insignificant on a global scale. It can happen.

@14866507
Did you really type that shit out right now?

this thread is proof we're just late adopters coping. Crypto already did its thing and made many people wealthy, its all crab then down from here

Attached: rp.png (1389x114, 16K)

Someone here must have the pasta of the ABSOLUTE MANIAC from the very early days who was just absolutely, insanely all in. He bought thousands of Bitcoin's and mining gear and every penny was going into more Bitcoin shit.
It's one of the most based pastas I've ever seen, that guy would have hundreds of millions by now.

Checked. Devil has spoken.

The goal was 210,000 btc

I somewhat agree that sex after 13-14 is okay.
But fucking anything less than that is pure degeneracy.
7 is NOT okay, even if they did in delaware, I don't care, but there's no consent at 7 or 10.
At 13 some women are already fucking with their friends, so it's more acceptable but it also depends.

it was only used to buy drugs, there was a big pump around 2013, then a devastating bear market for 2 years, and anyone who didn't dump their bags was a absolute fucking retard, there was no indication it would ever rise in value again. the only people who became millionaires were the dumb and lucky ones.

>I somewhat agree that sex after 13-14 is okay.

kys pedo freak
it's impossible to consent before 18 and your a sicko

>it's impossible to consent before 18 and your a sicko
this is nonsense. I would never have sex with a girl with less than 18 only because it's illegal. But you're a retard if you think they can't give consent at 15 or 16, when they ARE already giving consent to other men in the same age range.
>it's consent when a 15 year old girl has sex with a 17 year old man but not with a 18 year old.
That's just pure retardation. Also, pedophilia is not ephebophilia.

Told you faggots crypto was always a Jow Forums find. Biz has historically been late to the party.

this makes my balls hurt. god damnit guys. I heard about bitcoin back then in passing too. Someone mentioned that website were using mining instead of ads to monetize.

I heard of ethereum in like 2014 too. I read an article about it and thought it sounded gimmicky.

I sure was a dipshit back then. I loaded up for this run though so I might still make it.

You can always ask Joey.

>What was the early days of bitcoin like?
On the SA forums (YOSPOS) in 2010 or so we would buy each-other avatars ($5) and forum account upgrades ($10) by exchanging bitcoin. It was mostly a joke to us. I still had an old wallet with about 500 BTC in it from that time. Now I'm sitting on that wallet and don't really know what to do with it. I don't want to sell it and have some jew financial firm take 20%, taxes take 20%, etc.

lol

It still is
There is really no good reason for it to be this high, but here we are

Yes officers, it's this post, right here

So much Reddit spacing

Antshares, Ripple, Ethereuem, literally anything in the 2017 bullrun? If you were wise you could have easily made a shit ton of money. Unfortunately I fell for the hodl meme

>There's literally, literally nothing wrong with it.
As there is a demand for it, it encourages more to be made. If there was no demand, much less children would be mentally traumatized and physically harmed.
Imagine if it was a picture of you being violated going around on the internet, how would you feel?

They delete all your shit after a while, it gets annoying. Amazon keeps a record of all purchases, though.

Hitler literally didn't

Nice copypasta fren

>anyone who didn't dump their bags was a absolute fucking retard
I couldn't as I was gox'd

At least sell a million dollars worth for financial security if you don't already have it.

All of those things are equally disgusting to me. I would spit on you in person if I could.

Great post

I got in around late 2011. I had read the whitepaper and realized how brilliant it was. Unfortunately I was a degenerate and too hyper focused on getting any drug I wanted delivered to my door. I probably spent what would be around one hundred million dollars in today's value. Lost some when the silk road got seized, and lost some more when MtGox crashed. When it hit $100 I scoffed at the idea of buying something I used to buy so "cheap". I'm over it now, but 2017 I was not a happy man.

Checked

How did so many of you fuckers not just toss in $100 for laughs? I do that all the time it's literally pocket change what the fuck

I was and I am broke as fuck, all the money goes to bills, rent etc

tfw when LINK just did a rally that is equivalent to BTC ath (mt. Gox) to 2017 peak.

>is link just like btc was?
Delusional linkies kys

lol retards

Attached: LEVELS.png (992x527, 22K)

So.. do you own Link then?

Link has a MC of about 930 mil right now. At that MC, bitcoin was about $82

I remember looking at Silk Road when Bitcoin was around $350, but I was too scared to get drugs sent through the mail. And I thought $350 was too high a price, because I thought you had to buy whole coins.

The world would be better off if you jumped off a bridge, you're enabling genuine evil in the world.

Towards the end of Halo 3 (2011-12) I used to run 2's late night MlG with some guy named 5MeoDMT. One night we started talking about drugs and he brought up Silk Road and Bitcoin. I remember being more fascinated by Silk Road than Bitcoin and him the opposite.

I installed a wallet back in 2010 and immediately deleted it because it looked complicated as fuck.
