I wasn't so sure during the immediate aftermath of the election itself. The left seemed very energized as if his election slapped them in the face while they were sleeping. Charlottesville was a pretty big negative and while it had little to do with Trump himself, it certainly didn't help him.

Fast forward to now, however, and the economy is firing on all cylinders, peace with North Korea seems a very real possibility, taxes are lower, Obamacare is effectively DOA since there's no longer any penalty for not having coverage, and the Mueller investigation is fizzling out. Compound this with the increased irrationality of the left, which has manifested in the lack of a strong leader and increased ideological fractures, and I'd say his odds are much better than 2016.

All that said, DO NOT GET COMPLACENT. Complacency kills, and although we should never interrupt our enemies while they make their mistakes, we mustn't underestimate the demographic decline of this country, as well as the propensity for the media to distort the truth of what Trump is doing in the White House, especially as elections get closer and closer.

Unless he screws the pooch REALLY hard or if the Democrats gets someone who is more conservative-leaning (not a fucking chance), a second term is pretty much locked in place. What the Democratic party needs to do is to move their baseline further to the right to catch some of the more liberal Republicans, but instead they're dashing in the polar opposite direction and abandoning Democrats that could be described as being "moderate" by liberal standards. Unless they get their shit together and figure out that pandering to the people on the deepest end of the left (who would already vote for them regardless) isn't going to help them get back the swing states, they're shit out of luck until 2024.
