Let's face it, banning assault rifles is the best option at this point. Gun laws are not uniform across state lines and someone from a state with common sense gun laws can just go to a backwards, red state to get their guns/ammo.
That needs to change. We need nationwide gun laws that apply to all states whether the states or the people there want it or not. That is the only way to ensure the safety of everyone in this nation.
People should not have to be afraid of going to work, school, or church. Hell, innocent journalists were gunned down yesterday. This is not what America should be. I understand that we have a Constitution and the Second Amendment, but there is nothing wrong with admitting that the founders got some things wrong, I mean, the men owned slaves!
