Lake Erie used to be disgusting, still kind of is, but has improved. Presque Isle is actually quite nice. Not quite like being on a beach on the ocean but its definitely better than your local lake. Don't come anywhere near here between November and April however, the snow is fucking outrageous. You do get used to it eventually though.

The wind off the lake as you're going down I-90 is pretty neat to drive through when it's blowing. And also how especially if you're coming up I-79 all of a suddenly starts to turn from late fall or early winter to snow caverns just as you're getting up to Erie.
