>2nd round polls: JB 56% X FH 44% (Datafolha), JB 60.6% X FH 39.4% (Paraná) Bolsonaro vs. Haddad run-off will happen in October 28th.
>BACKGROUND
Jair Bolsonaro is the front-runner in Brazil's presidential election. He is a conservative Christian, pro-gun, a former army captain, and the only candidate with no corruption charges against him. He's looking to modernise the lethargic Brazilian economy with the aid of UChicago economist Paulo Guedes. He wants to align Brazil's foreign policy with Western nationalist governments against the influence of China, Eurasianism and regional socialism (Venezuela and Cuba). He has a hard stance on crime and supports increasing the power of police forces and the army to tackle Brazil's drug and violence problems. Under heavy fire from the media and academia, with an extremely restricted campaign budget, and having survived an assassination attempt, Bolsonaro's presidential run is nothing short of extraordinary.
JB's antagonist in the presidential race is Fernando Haddad, a sociologist, former minister of education under Lula and former mayor of São Paulo. He's running for the left-wing Labour Party (PT) under the guidance of former president Lula, who is currently in prison after being convicted for corruption and money laundering. PT had been the ruling party in Brazil for 13 years, but is facing high rejection in the polls after a police investigation uncovered the largest known corruption scheme in Brazilian history, which PT architected.
Think about it this way: According to the polls they made this year, about 60% of the population want Lula in prison Barbosa was that high because people thought he was against PT/corruption

What?! Sao paulo hates PT, that has been the case since the 2006 election i think(though i agree about Rio, and now we even have a right wing candidate for governor)

>Also, I wonder if it's socially acceptable to openly support Bolsonaro
Remember we will have only shit polls today and they gonna give 53~54 to Bolsonaro.

It dependes on where you live really, if you live in the South, with the exception of the big city of "Porto Alegre", I would say tha you can openly support him without getting beaten on the streets.
Sao paulo is a bit of a odd place really, some polls are saying that he is gonna lose there others are saying the opposite. Rio I can kinda understand, it's pretty much our small Venezuela at this point, even the people at the slums are getting tired of PT and their politicians.
When it comes to the north and northeast I would say that you can only freely support Bolsonaro on the capitals, outside of that you are pretty much in a deadzone.
I am kinda unsure if he is gonna win really, some centrists are declaring their vote for Haddad now, even my brother is gonna vote for him now, so who knows, I will wait for the next poll in a couple of hours.

In Brazil elections haven't been polarized on city/farm dichotomies in a while, but there are differences in the %s in every region, and in some states this happened, mostly in the Northeast and part of the North. But you need to keep in mind small towns and rural areas in Brazil (especially in the Northeast) aren't like in the US, nice places with infrastructure, internet and so on, they're actually quite poor and are shitholes, many of them barely even have internet access (some don't) or even TV, so people there don't vote differently due to different values (like in the US), but because they're poorer and have far less access to information. Bolsonaros home state (politically) is Rio BTW, which explains why he went so well there. São Paulo, on the other hand, is the most anti-PT state in the country
could someone paint all cities with dark green (bolsonaro won with 50%+ of valid votes), as green and all cities with any other countries as blue
Juan Barnes
This. They will blame Bolsonaro for anything.

At least we can win wars.
Argentina on the other hand, can't defend a FUCKING ISLAND from a country 6000km away. Falkland Island history should make all Argentinians never talk about WAR again.
