Depression is basically stagnation.

You stagnate and get "depressed". There is a reason a lot of homeless people aren't actually depressed... it's because they're energised from being out and about all day everyday. They're focusing on tasks and completing them, whatever they may be.

You literally cannot be depressed if you're always moving, always active. This is why you get the worst thoughts when you're alone/not doing anything, etc.

So really, go outside everyday, try to spend all day doing something, don't leave yourself time to think introspectively.

The problem is you're thinking introspectively because you're either a) introverted thinker b) not doing anything so your mind occupies itself.

We don't know the source of you're depression so we cannot truly help you, if you're already doing all of
then it is probably a genetic factor, that perhaps is actually treatable, but one we cannot know until you get a genetic test done (even a consumer test like AncestryDNA would be helpful if you run the data through an interpreter like Promethease).

If your depression is induced by chemical and hormonal imbalances, tough luck; you lost the genetic lottery and need to take your meds.
If not, get enough money to stop caring about work, debt and the future. Get it in a way that doesn't make you feel bad about yourself. Then do stuff that you find meaningful and self-realizing. Easier said than done tho.

Get a routine. Force you to wake up early if you don´t have a job. Get out, walk or do some sports if you can.
Try to find minor objectives related to bigger ones and try to achieve ´em. If you´re really fucked up by now a goal could be "find a job" but you could begin with "wake up every day this week at 9 am". Then the next week you aim at delivering X amount of CV. If you also have social anxiety then change it to have X amount of positive social interactions per day/week.
Something easy to do and to track, you must provide your self victories.
And ...sadly that´s kinda it. IT varies a lot of secondary issues and personal "variables" (dunno how it is in english) and it´s more a behavioural thing than a cognitive one. It doesn´t mean becoming active is 100% of the job but in most cases it work and i cannot help you much more from my computer so....
Rundown: Get a routine focused on your personal issues and try to find a clinical psychologist (CLINICAL, not psychoanalistic bullhsit about Freud and relativism) to check and adjust your progress 2-4 times per month.

A series of small achievable goals. Can be anything, just to get out of bed an hour earlier or making sure you eat 3 solid meals or improve your performance at work somehow. Depression sets in a lot of the time due to low sense of self worth. So make yourself a more productive person and do things that make you proud of yourself. You'll he surprised how quickly things can turn around

These people genetically have excessively high resting dopamine and serotonin levels. They are also often highly unrealistically optimistic and annoying.
Another exception is people with enough power, wealth and pussy that they can feel happy even if if they have no meaning because they are literally high on life or winning. These people often crash hard if they lose those things due to aging, health issues, or turns of economic fortune.
For normal schmucks, you need accept that life is not meant to be happy, it is meant to be a meaningful challenge. Then you need to find your meaning.

You need purpose, to be part of something. But even then it will never truly go away, once you get to know it depression becomes a part of who you are, you cannot undo that.

(2) depression is found in rich people just as much as in poor people

(3) raising a family isn't the answer because (a) if you're truly depressed, then you can barely take care of yourself, and (b) do you really want to create and raise people who themselves are highly likely to suffer from depression?

My personal steps to getting out of depression:
Started working (Don't go for an easy job where you can just be away with you toughs for 8 hours, something that demands you pay attention). Make some goals for yourself in 3~5 years time and start working on them (i started loosing weight from 125 kg->105 kg in 2 months, and i m planing on finishing my school so i can make more then a average salary that i make right now and started learning French). Make simple goals, dedicate yourself to them (either read some books, learning new things, starting new hobby) and you will feel improvements in those fields that will make you feel like you are going somewhere. Not stuck in dead end position.

All problems can be solved through biology.

What are you not doing/deprived of that your ancestors would have done? Mating? Exercise? Socialization? Something to work towards? Think about an animal's most basic needs, and try to figure out what it is that you're not doing. Eat right, engage in physical activity, talk to people, try to find a mate, try to find a purpose in life, whether it's a hobby or a job you enjoy; something to work towards. I understand saying all of this is a lot easier than actually accomplishing it, but you wanted an answer and I gave it to you.

Other than that, I'd recommend you read Julius Evola, and since you're Italian, you can even read the original text, so nothing will get lost in translation.

SSRIs should only be used as a last resort. They increase serotonin levels in the synaptic space, causing more to bind to post-synaptic receptors. The body tries to counteract this however by producing less serotonin neurotransmitter, and reducing the number of receptors. Therefore if you ever stop the SSRIs, you will be more depressed than ever, and thus you will probably alsways be dependent on the drug. Think of steroids- they make you swole sure, but the body responds by reducing natural testosterone production in the testes, which is why they shrink. Sometimes the reduction is permanent. This is why bodybuilders often have low testosterone and small balls permanently when they stop using the roids. A similar mechanism occurs in the brain in response to SSRIs.

I've got bipolar, which has depression, but mixed in with a kind of low key mania that occasionally blooms into full craziness. It is a verifiably physical thing, related to inflammation all over the body, and especially in the head.

My method for dealing with it is to not do any drugs, including smoking and drinking, to focus all my mental efforts on calming myself to the exclusion of other concerns, and to exercise daily in a medium to high intensity fashion. The key is really the second part, the goal of your basic mental state has to be calm, which is hard for people who have become sort of accustomed to the intense feelings involved in these disorders- even addicted to pseudo-manic feelings. Being normal might seem sort of 'quiet' and still in comparison.

What I find is that, paradoxically, removing the symptoms of mania as best as possible, that is to say the 'highs',those exciting feelings, also gets rid of the depression to a large degree, and leaves you in a state of more or less calm, where clear thinking and goal-oriented behavior can be undertaken without disturbed patterns of thought or action.

Quite a lot of depressed people I believe have some sort of low-key mania, sometimes manifesting just as irritation and anxiety or schizo-affective feelings, and part of the key to solving it is to get rid of those disordered and pseudo-manic aspects, because i believe they cause the depression by way of a kind of exhaustion.

For people with catatonic depression, who have none of these 'excitable' qualities at all, clearly something else is going on and what i say is not relevant. But like 90% of people I've met with depression are not like this and do have the more elevated symptoms like anxiety and irritation.

tldr; calm is a prerequisite for clarity of thought and action, and most depressed people are not actually calm, even if they feel exhausted

Look inward and realize it was you that fucked your life up. Whether it was a decision you made or thru inaction, it can always be sourced back to you.
The sooner you accept it and find out where you feel you've failed yourself, the better. You don't have to punish yourself for your past, but don't live as though it was out of your hands. Nothing about your life is out of YOUR hands.

Its a hard pill to swallow but you'll come out a better person. Maybe not happier, but your life will measurably improve. Then happiness can be sought.

Exercise 3x45 minutes per week, it has the same effect on mood as an antidepressant.

Aside from that, understand what you need and go get it, whether it's feeling intimate with someone or working toward a personal or fitness goal or whatever. Think about what you want to do someday in your life and move toward it, and radically accept that suffering is part of life and that you may never be happy the way the kikes depict happiness, but that you can be fulfilled anyway.

Exercising is a must first of all. Go five times a week, 1/2 cardio the rest weightlifting, also fix your diet and become a fucking machine.
After that read, the Stoics and Evola made me get my shit back together.
Then work and leisure activities, become busy enough to simply not have time to be depressed.
