Why do girls not wear dresses anymore...

Why do girls not wear dresses anymore? One of the things that I noticed when I was in Japan is that girls tended to wear dresses a lot more in casual wear, especially during summer. Meanwhile in the west it's jeans all day.

So yeah rather than asking for advice this is more like giving advice to femanons. Wear dresses! They look great on you.

And more skirts.

They do wear skirts and dresses at least I do, my friends do, its winter though so not so much when its really cold because of practicality unless worn with thicker tights and insulated boots. Maybe its just the area you live in or other reasons why they just like what they like, a million different reasons. And I know why you're giving this "advice", fiancé likes my dresses and pleated plaid skirts most, guys like it what a shock.

Tbh I don't own that many dresses because they're usually more expensive than just buying some nice jeans and a bunch of tshirts. Wish I could afford them but it is what it is.

Women don't like to be told what to do, especially not to dress like shit. It's only going to get worse here, so just revel in the fact that there are still countries and cultures where women care enough to dress well. It's a lost cause here OP

because pants are more comfortable and versatile

what's stopping you from wearing dresses OP

I see a lot at college when it's warm

What's the point of dropping $100 on makeup when you have beautiful legs?

Here are some reasons people don't wear dresses every day:
>you have to shave your legs
>one gust of wind while you aren't paying attention and everyone sees your underwear
>no pockets
>often times dresses are perceived as being "dressed up" for the situation, like wearing 8" heels and your finest jewellery to a casual picnic
>it's really cold in winter, even with tights
>good winter tights (that will actually keep you warm) cost a surprising amount of money, and they are fairly easy to rip so you have to replace them surprisingly often too
>society's current obsession with thicc asses, you can't see much ass in most dress styles
>nobody cares what you, personally, think looks great

I actually do wear dresses or skirts because I loathe denim, but it's not really up to you when you don't know how annoying these garments can be in comparison to pants.

The answer is neither, it's no makeup and yoga pants

I always appreciate when someone is dressed nicely. I think it reflects positively on a person, even if I don't go out of my way to talk to or compliment people for it

Go outside during the summer instead of sitting on your ass in the air conditioning, and you’ll see plenty of women in dresses. This is probably one of the dumber variants of the “meh! western women!” meme that’s been around for a couple decades now.

And in any case, women’s fashion is women’s fashion. It’s pretty silly to read deeper into it just because fashion is different in places like Japan.

I don't see how unspoken appreciation from strangers is at all a reason to dress a certain way.

>society's current obsession with thicc asses, you can't see much ass in most dress styles
This is the biggest driver of women wearing tights everywhere, and legs was one of the biggest drivers of women wearing skin-tight jeans for years. And booty shorts in the interim when both asses and legs were in.

If bare legs become a fetish again, or if modesty becomes a fetish outside of insular online communities, you can bet your ass that dresses and skirts will come back too.

I wear dresses and skirts almost daily, it's just too difficult to find pants that fit right.

>society's current obsession with thicc asses, you can't see much ass in most dress styles
I wear a pencil skirt to work most days. If anything, that shows off too much ass.

>most dress styles
I didn't say anything about skirts, and I didn't say all styles.

Of course a-line or bodycon cuts are going to show off a lot off ass, but there are a lot of other styles which mostly don't hug your curves as closely as a pair of jeans or leggings will.

Of course not, but there are always options if you're concerned that you're not showing off your ass.

The same reason why men dont wear suits in casual settings as often anymore.
Both are huge things in Japan.
Keep in mind that suits and dresses are a western thing that Japan adopted late and girls are required to wear skirts at school in Japan.

Work in a professional corporate setting and you'll see all the girls in dresses and guys in suits you want.

Fuck I love wearing suits.
>t. attorney

too feminine

What the hell does that even mean too feminine who do you think you are

Probably a tomboy. They exist and are pretty awesome.

Do you not get sick of them? I can't imagine how annoying it must be not having much choice in your wardrobe. Women get a bit of flexibility in how they dress in that sort of environment, I can't imagine how boring it must be having to wear a suit every day.

Not at all. I mix it up with the shirt (which can have a ton of variety in both the color, style, and texture), the tie (and tie knot), the shoes, the stockings, even the belt or braces... if it’s a less formal day, a sweater or sweater vest may be appropriate, and you can mix the hell up out of that. I don’t do this, but if you wear waistcoats you can go for a contrasting one.

And then, of course, you can go for different suit styles and colors. Navy and charcoal are musts for an attorney, but you could go lighter gray, if you’re young and slim true blue can look good. Peaked lapels vs notched lapels, lapel width, if you’re slim you can try double-breasted, etc. If it’s a less-formal day you can wear a sport coat, and those come in ALL KINDS of variety.

Why don't girls wear underwear anymore

Put more briefly, variety in professional menswear is a lot like how you can get huge variety with a small closet by layering. It’s just that the variation is more subtle in most cases.

Do you do a lot of court work? Our firm specialises in litigation so most of the men in our firm tend to wear dark suits exclusively because that's what's expected at court. Only one guy tends to wear more fun ties to dress it up a little.

Yeah for court I’d only wear charcoal or navy. Some guys can do pinstripe without it looking gaudy, I can’t. I don’t do waistcoats either but some guys wear them well for court. White shirt with a peak or (maybe) button collar (I don’t care for spread collars), conservative silk necktie with a knot like a half or full Windsor, black dress shoes (never brown for court, some guys are psychotic about an old London style rule about never having brown shoes and a dark suit).

But again, if you’re in the office that day, you can go more informal. And you’ve always got your emergency blazer on the hook in case you’re not dressed right for court, you can still pull off basic hearings or conferences (idk what I’d do for a trial if I fucked my suit up the morning of after arriving at work).

Also most guys aren’t into fashion at all though and just go with the same pair of suits and rotate them. Like guys who get five-piece suits? Jacket, waistcoat, three pair of trousers; the trousers wear faster and need to be laundered more often. A guy who doesn’t feel the need for variety will go for that.

(Sorry if this multiposts; shit is not working right atm)

Ignore what's being pushed by "society" seriously. Its really does it look nice aka do you workout. In general of course but, ok so some perv took creepshots of a bunch of girls on campus which is automatic expulsion but none of the guys know anything, they're being guys. My small and very nice butt under a skirt had gotten over double the comments than anyone else thread before I got it taken down so what's pushed doesn't matter.

I wish i could wear dresses...

You dress well to feel good about yourself, but would you still do it if you were staying home all day?
