I was like you once, then I grew up and realised a bunch of things.
One, it's not bad to be alone. I get on well with people at my uni but struggle with establishing closer friendships for various reasons. it's convenient to make some buddies so you can have someone who will share their notes with you should you miss classes, help you with a subject you're struggling - things like that. But you need to learn to be self-reliant emotionally and not count on someone else to make you functional. World is shitty and can be scared, but you can hardly escape it, so force yourself to face it on your own.
Two, don't hide. It's juvenile and makes you look like a submissive small-town girl with nada self-esteem. I was like this, and it was horrible, I felt like looking people in the eye would be offensive, like just presence around happy popular and confident people will offend them, or I imagined that they laugh at me or hate me, whatever you have. You gotta learn not to give a fuck about randos. This should be your step one, learning how to be around people. Step two would be trying to socialise with them.
Step three, don't waste your time on mobile games, read books instead. Reading is my natural excuse for not socialising with people. You look buys, but not exactly lame (unless you read 50 shades of grey) and people understand why you don't talk to them and know that they should leave you alone too.
