Just found out how good of a career nursing is
>0% unemployment and guaranteed job with only 3 years of training
>can work literally anywhere in the world
>0% chance of being replaced by machines
>Have lots of agency, with the responsibility of the nurse increasing constantly
>Can easily make more than many doctors for a long time or make something pretty with 1-2 years post-grad degree
I am seriously considering studying mental health nursing.
With a postgrad I'll be making considerably more than most engineers and have a job for life.

>wiping a nigger's asshole for a living

Nurses rarely wipe people's asses, carers/assistants do that. You won't be doing that if you're a manager/consultant.

The nurses work hard meme is real
You'll have a lot on your plate. If you're a diligent man than go for it; if you just want easy cash look somewhere else

I see it as more rewarding work than sitting in a cubicle for 40+ hours a week and looking at graphs/cad software (which is what my life will be like if I go down the engineering root), even if it is emotionally demanding.

STOP SHILLING NURSING
ON EVERY FUCKING BOARD
GODDAMMIT, you fucking asshole

People are shilling nursing on Jow Forums?

Trips of truth.

Great career field, spoken from personal experience. Also, nurses don’t take shit and most I’ve met are borderline Jow Forums or they’ve already hopped the fence.

every subboard hates you, fucking faggot

lmao

Mate, I've never made a thread like this before.
Seriously.

i see you're quite a bit of a masochist too

sure buddy

If you don't like touching dicks, try Clinical Lab Scientist. Comparable pay to nurse, school is a little harder (4 year degree minimum of hard science), but the actual job is a bit easier without all the indignities you suffer as a nurse. It's guaranteed employment for life. Win/win

I laughed when I heard that too, until I looked at the data myself.
Most doctors won't make any serious money for like 12 years (if we are talking about the UK). Junior doctors are paid like trash. With a related Msc, you'll be making much more than them. It's only in the longterm that they will earn more, and by then you've already been earning for several years. The majority of doctors today are glorified pen pushers, if you actually want to work with patients on a daily basis, nursing is the way to go.
The pay isn't shit, though. In the US/Canada 100k is pretty easy to get, and that's not even nursing managers.
Tough skin is a useful skill to have too.

nursing is an extremely tough job and the burnout rate is very high.

I will look into it.
Thanks.

It's where the blood samples go to be tested. Also, it's pretty fun to call the nurse and tell them that they fucked up the draw and they have to go back to the patient to re-stick. They always either get pissy or start whining.

Brother went nursing. During college rotations, he learned to absolutely hate people, so went neonatal. Babies only cry when something is wrong. Fat slobs cried because they didn't get triple servings of food, and at 20 stone overweight could have lived months on their stored calories.

I do not disagree with his choice. But staring at CAD all day means I don't have to deal with people baby or not.

Too much paperwork if people die. If you're in a nursing home, prepare your asshole.

oh I didn't see your flag

our docs come out of 4+4 years of school and go into residency, where their pay is about equal to the highest paid nurse. After residency, they'll make 3-4x a nurse easy. A lot of specialists end up making a ton, e.g. I saw a radiologist contract that was $500k salary plus ridiculous benefits, and that was his starting contract fresh out of residency. For comparison, nurses in that same hospital start at $24/hr

Actual nurse (Murse) here at the Mater Miscordia hospital... Awesome job and pay. Jobs fall from the sky.. Registered nurses don't wipe asses, we write care plans and do x-rays even. If you get tired of that shit; jump into emergency or theatre (where i am and it's comfy AF). 68 500 graduate year and can peak 155 k in 2 years. Got into it because of a mate hustling at the base hospital and told me of the glorious gold mine it is because women are stupid and don't specialise to pop out tyrone's spawn. You want money, Nurse m8.

Wife is a nurse
If you are introverted (all of pol), don't do nursing
You will be emotionally exhausted at the end of a shift and probably burnt out after a few years

There are some tech positions like dialysis tech which make nearly as much and require little socialization

Power level revealed?

In the UK the entry pathway will be via the Scientist Training Program, and places are hard fought over there. Even the most popular training program involving Medical Physics has like a 10% acceptance rate.

Britain is not a nice country if you don't have connections.

Nurse here. Glad I chose this shit. But at the same time here in Spain you are lucky to get 24.000 euros a year so...
Im already a technician in nutrition so maybe Ill go full doc and be a degree nutritionist. I want more money. But agsin Im a Jow Forums lurker for years and I already know my shit enough to open my place and help any fatso to shed weight with non cucked diets AKA fuck the piramid eat meat and fish. Unless you have uric acid or other shit then Ill have to actually think.
Also If I do that It would be nice to go to texas by the border. Mexicans are fat, americans are too (not to disrecpect anybody bros, its statistics) and then just making diets and cleaning diabeetus feets and all that shit I could make some nice cash...choices choices.

CNAs do that.

Nurses have absolute shit wages in the UK though.

>dealing with patients/customers
>on a daily basis

yikes and oofpilled

>can peak 155k
Holy fuck how?

The US is the only country where doctors salaries stand out as much as they do. The most a nurse can really hope for is probably CRNA and an upper salary of 200k usd a year

The doctors that earn the most are also expected to work much more. Longer hours, be on call 24/7 around the clock, and a bunch of other shit. There's a guy at my weightlifting gym that is a surgeon, he works 60 hours a week. Makes a shit ton of money, but I don't envy him. Only 50 years old but he looks like a skeleton. Burnout/suicide rate for doctors is insane. If you're passionate about it, though, to that extreme extent then you should definitely go down the medicine route.

That's true from what I've seen.
Need an Msc to break through into a better pay check.

>helping to heal my fellow man

even though I literally had a calling and urge to do that irl ...I chose to be a car mechanic instead.......I'd rather heal cars.

>The US is the only country where doctors salaries stand out as much as they do. The most a nurse can really hope for is probably CRNA and an upper salary of 200k usd a year
Mainly because the doctor lobbies put up roadblocks that prevent more doctors from being trained every year and allowing doctor responsibilities to be handled by lower level caregivers like PNs
Simply to protect their salaries
My whole family's in healthcare. The nurses have very low opinions of the doctors and the doctors have very high opinions of themselves

If you enjoy spending most of your waking hours with niggers, jews, and boomers whining at you over every little thing then by all means go for it.

In the end you should chose between them depending if you prefer direct contact with patients or not. It's a good idea to pick something that'll fulfill you, making the rest of your life easier.

Fetch the bedpan and work nights and weekends, answer a buzzer at 3 AM for some whiner who tosses and turns at night, tangling hoses and wires.

Have a middle aged woman for a boss.

Always be a failure compared to real doctors who have real power to blame you when they screw up.

But some patients will appreciate your gentle touch.

Yeah I'm aware of the overall situation. Big reason why NPs and PAs are eating into lower tier physician specialties terf.

I hate it when faggots come here to justify their shitty life choices.
>GUYS THIS THING THAT I DO IS TOTALLY REDPILLED
OP is a dumb faggot not smart enough to be a doctor, everything else is just rationalization.

>dealing with patients
Yikes. Be a lab tech instead, $30/h starting, never deal with patients

youmust be fully vaccinated and be ok with killing and destroying people with modern medicine. its great if you have no soul and never intend on having one.

We have the same situation here. It's why medicine is so difficult to get into, even if you have the best grades. The supply of doctors is kept artificially low.
But there have been many changes that have crepped in over the years. Nurses do a lot of things doctors used to do and responsibilities are growing every decade.
What are NPs/PAs?

You're a weird dude.
You only need an IQ of around 110-115 to study medicine. I did mathematics more difficult than anything doctors study while at sixth form.

I worked as a live in carer in the UK for a year, it's great if you have a good placement but the job depends almost entirely on where you are placed. Some placements can be great while others can really, really suck.
Though one benefit is while the job is 24/7 and you live there, you can save a lot of money as all your expenses are paid for.

I got very lucky and had a great placement for about 9 months with an old guy with dementia, but then got a new manager who was an absolute cunt on wheels and removed me, then the guy gave up on life and died and that's really put me in a bad place mentally.

You're a mental case.

You have to deal with your boss/owner, coworkers, and clients. That's life son.

Somehow the NAMV website has been scrubbed. It made it about 3 yrs before being taken down.

Nice rebuttal, and thanks for the (You) William.

>rebute the fact I believe the moon is made of cheese
No thanks, Tyrone.

Why do you think that people are leaving that job in droves! Especially in the UK? The "do no harm" pledge no longer applies to individual health. The "herd immunity" fallacy is being pushed, at the expense of the individual (and the individual's immediate family) health and well-being. How can a nurse function in that environment with any kind of conscience? Some things cannot become unseen, once they are seen.

What’s even better than being a nurse is marrying a nurse practitioner. Comfy stay at home dad life.

The absolute worst thing about working in healthcare with majority women staffing is the bullshit they pull at work. They will back stab endlessly, not in an attempt to gain power through the job, but in an odd attempt to socially ostracize you. They rarely have desire to destroy someone for career ambitions, but rather they want to destroy, men particularly, socially to obtain some popularity pecking order. I still don't understand the motivations behind their subversive behaviors.

Example: Every one of these bitches whisper constantly. Not just whisper, but whisper and both glare at the person they are whispering about. I have seen these bitches talk absolute shit, as in they hate this bitch, and as soon as they get finished staring at her and whispering, one will go over to her and act like they are best friends. These cunts are world-class shit talkers and back stabbers. They tend to respect men to their face, but some of the most virile shit talking comes at the man's expense.

It is really interesting to watch the shit in action.

why do you think all doctors move to America, instead of shitty socialized healthcare countries where they make shit money?

Don't mind being around the dying and sick people all day. No thanks.

Good read, sad 2 hear that tho bro.

not in psych, dumbass.

It's a righteous job that pays well and has great prospects, especially if you continue with your education and end up in a senior position in your middle age.. but I couldn't do it.

though marrying a nurse seems like it'd be cool, lots of nurse qts out there and they're usually pretty feminine girls

Something europe doesn't have. Nurse practitioners and physician assistants. Masters level roles.

why are you posting a picture of a doctor then? doctors actually read the charts and think about the patient's conditions. nurses take orders. nurses are a female's job, through and through. They are subservient to doctor's every order. i even have more respect for PA's, despite the fact that they're wannabe physicians.

source: resident.

This is true. Women are the worst in admin and health care is full of them

My wife was a nurse on PRN (basically on call but had no benefits, thus costing the hospital nothing to keep her)
The hospital had to downsize and released her, specifically because the nurse who made that decision didn't like her. The HR rep chewed her out for that

Favoritism bullshit like that goes hand-in-hand with women-run orgs whereas men tend to see efficiency and hardwork and can overlook personal differences

>Jewing

paraprofessional wannabe doctors with a fraction of the pay and a fraction of the responsibility and a fraction of the involvement in patient care.

Lame. The education requirements for nursing are so high now it's dumb not to just become an MD.

Australia.. Plus you specialise in 2 areas (masters) and you become irreplaceable. When someone is dying on the table, women cower and do what they are told; while men get it done and instruct. Big boss sees this and knows you are the real value on the floor. You can then demand a bigger salary or cross into research advocacy like my senior murse bro is doing.

>comparable pay to a nurse
LOL

I have a weak stomach for peoples' disgusting bodies. I am a germophobe and refuse to step foot in a disease factory, I mean hospital, unless I'm dying,

I'll stick to electronics\appliance repair thanks guy. I definitely won't be replaced by machines, pretty sure a machine isn't going to take apart your 1988 Electrolux vacuum, clean it out, and replace the power cord, belt and brush roller.

>How can a nurse function in that environment
>gibsme the almighty Federal Reserve Notes

We do have them. Physician assistants are called associates here, however.
Actually that photo is from an article about the future of nursing.
You have an outdated view of the profession.
But your opinion is typical of trainee doctors.
The only reason doctors have the role that they do is because of artificial restrictions on supply. Destroy the doctors union and you'll be able to have nurses doing most of the pen pushing doctors do.
Unless you're a surgeon or some other high specialist, you're just a glorified box ticker and regurgitator. I've done mathematics more difficult than anything you've ever done in your training while studying for my A-levels.

When I lived in Dallas, there was a male nurse who would suck me off in the hospital bathroom.

That's gay as fuck mate.

TAKE CARE OF THE BOOMERS YOU FUCKING MILLENIAL

Dudes suck better, but when it comes to plowing ass, I prefer women.

Nurse pay is 28k in London. National around 23k. My city Bois earns 80k plus 40k Bonus. That autism coder earns 70k.

I've been looking around today at mental health nurse jobs. So many near entry level jobs paying £30.80 per hour (nearly $40 burgers). Mental health nurses also seem to have much more independence and ability to work in other settings. I'd personally love to work in prisons.

See
And that's outside of London, in the norf.

Nursebro here. Second career. Ask me anything. I currently work i a large inner ciy ED. Some people already hit on very salient points:
- It's a good paying job with excellent work life balance and upside if you want to go postgraduate (at least in the U.S.)
-It isn't an easy job, physically or mentally. Standing for 12 hours, lifting 400 pound patients. people expect you to be the furniture mover, the IT guy, the maid, the waiter, and the nurse..
-It's incredibly rewarding, you save someone or help someone, you feel like you're doing something good with your life. The Lord's work.
-It's emotionally exhausting. Patients (sometimes kids) die. It's fucked up. You get hardened, but never enough.

Your conception of nursing is very wrong! Band 5 RGN here to tell you, you'll in the thick of it! Blood, piss, shit you name it! Healthcare assistants or HCAs only do as it says on the tin! Assist the nurses with care..

>I chose to be a car mechanic instead.......I'd rather heal cars.
same here man I fix boomers' vintage crap like radios, lamps and vacuum cleaners. I have no interest in cleaning their literal vintage crap out of a bedpan. I would love to get into fixing and detailing cars though, I think I'd be great at it.

>mental health
I've cleaned out appliances from local crazies centers; if they're any indicator of how disgusting those people and the buildings are then yeah, nah, mate.

Mental health nurses don't do what normal nurses do. Job is very different.

I couldn't do that stuff, I'm not fond of the human body.
I'm more interested in working in a mental health setting and there isn't much choice.
To be a psychiatrist it takes like 15 years, so that is out of the question. The remaining options are mental health nursing (with post-grad degree/specialisms) or psychology. Both jobs have a lot of overlap, especially if the nurse has post-grad qualifications.
Becoming a clinical/forensic psychologist seems like a pain in the ass. You need the undergrad, masters, and doctorate, plus years of experience working/volunteering in similar setting, and then get lucky enough to get a job as a trainee psychologist.

t. Internal medicine Caribbean grad

I get a raise every 30/60/90 days depending how productive I've been, which can unfortunately depend on how much business we get, like right now it's hella slow season. I have an 2nd job bussing tables for just a few hours 3-5 evenings/wk. I do fine. At my main job I get to work with tools by myself with just the sales guy or the owner around, at the restaurant I don't have to talk to anybody, both are very suitable to my autism.

There just isn't a lot of work suitable for extreme antisocial tendencies, especially not nursing. I feel this point of view should be extremely relevant on this board/ all Jow Forums

>Job
>0% unemployment

OMG I think you cracked the code

>Can easily make more than many doctors
Yeah, maybe in the UK.

Family doctors usually make at least $200,000 working 40 hour weeks.

Surgeons and specialists can make much, much more like $500,000 +.

I personally think a job like that would make me more sociable, it would actually force me to become more sociable, and I see that as strength/benefit.

Then you have social anxiety, not autism. I tried waiting tables again and again for 3 years. I am basically incapable of casual social interaction with strangers.

The supply of doctors is kept artificially low, which is the main reason for the salary discrepency (assuming we are not talking about highly specialised doctors like surgeons).
That sucks bud. Are you getting any help with that?

Unfortunately, these medical workers are now unemployed. express.co.uk/news/uk/150804/Fury-at-vaccine-scandal
