It's not nearly as isolated down there as they make it up to be, there's Argentinian goods and Chilean ships doing trade down there. Ethnically speaking most of the population is white, if you're not fluent in spanish i don't think it's so big of an issue as they are specialized with tourists over those parts. If i wanted to start an ethnostate anywhere it would certainly be down there.

Thanks for your response. Needless to say, I would relish a chance to live in that part of the world. Especially with a good sized ranch and a big family. I figured a lot of trade goes through there because the only other way is through Panama.
Luckily, my Spanish is at a conversational level, and I'm learning more every day, so when the ethnostate forms, I'll have a bit of a lead on others haha.

Argentinian side is mostly barren land and Chilean side is very rainy but access is hard because that many fjords and glaciers are in the way of making significant infrastructure such as roads and towns; and that's why Magallanes region is basically Chilean Alaska and you need to go pass through Argentina if you want to go to Punta Arenas by land.
Fun fact: One of Pinochet's greatest initiatives was to build a road that connected most of these lands.
