In America, all the leftists hate the right wing leaders and all the right wingers hate the left wing leaders, but generally most of the population have some base of support somewhere. I get this sense that a lot of European leaders are just completely hostile toward their own population and it feels like they're some kind of puppet government installed by a foreign power or something. Like, wherever their power comes from, it's not their citizens.

I also just don't like the 'style' of the European political class in general, but it's really hard to explain what I mean here. They all come across stodgy and bureaucratic, like literal physical manifestations of bureaucracy.
