I'm advising victims of hogposting to "be brave" and report "their abusers" to twitter, #metoo, and when twitter does nothing (which it presumably will not), I'm sure in the current political climate there are many publications which would be interested in reporting that twitter is knowingly subjecting people to sexual harassment and cyber bullying and doing nothing about it.
Would be very bad optics for them and all the possible outcomes are beneficial in some way.

That's not what happened.

The idea of liberal bias in the media was a meme, that came about in the 90s.

A top news producer at CBS created the meme as part of a book shitting on CBS's news division, which he wrote after a couple of things happened:

1. His neighbor, a right wing normie he had been friends with, asked him why CBS/60 Minutes ran a hit piece of Steve Forbes regarding his support of the flat tax that had the reporter, cutting away from Forbes every couple of minutes to make snide comments about how Forbes was mentally retarded for wanting a flat tax. The neighbor thought the reporter was going out of his way to be cruel and insulting to Forbes and anyone that agreed with him.

2. Dealing with left wing firebrand Dan Rather, who by this point was in full-blown prima donna asshole mode because of Connie Chung's existence. Rather legit thought that CBS wanted him gone and permanently replaced with Chung, culminating in him crying and screaming like a baby when Chung got to cover he Oklahoma City bombing (ironically, because Rather was on vacation at the time).

3. CBS executives in general, being hard left ideologes who made working in the news division next to impossible if your politics weren't left of Stalin.

The guy who coined the meme's book became a huge hit and he basically quit CBS after it came out, when Rather threatened to murder him (Rather thought the book damaged his reputation by exposing his prima donna egomania to the masses). He went on to be a right wing darling, though he famously got on Fox News shit list when O'Reilly had him on the show in the early 00s and he shocked everyone by claiming Fox News and O'Reilly himself, are the right wing counterparts to CBS and Rather, in terms of being biased to the point of no return.
