I actually went to school for science stuff, but the economic downturn wasn't very helpful and I didn't want to do the grad school thing because I graduated later due to working two fulltime jobs to pay my way through. So I got certified to teach through an alt. certification program. It's respectable, steady work. I don't expect extravagant pay.

Its simply unreasonable to think that minimum wage jobs will allow a young man to build a family. Raises dont rise quickly enough and manufacturing has almost all been exported. There simply isnt enough to support the American standard of living for a young man to build a family, and now vocational schools are as much of a rip off as colleges.

I get outright pissed when I hear people refering to employers as 'job creators' as if employers give a fiddlers fuck about how many jobs they create. They are not in the business of creating jobs, nor should they be expected to be.

So we are asked to sympathize with them because they 'cant afford to pay' decent wages. Its a cop out. It means they cant afford as many workers as they wish for at livable wages, so they pay everyone less. Its a smarmy way of admitting they cant afford the laborers they want at a decent wage.

So millions of laborers would be fired if they had to provide a decent wage. So be it. Thats competition. The worker would value their job, they would compete to do better and we wouldnt have idiots working every service job. Working at McDonalds would suddenly become a vaunted position.
