The so called "Poland A" and "Poland B". This thing basically drags on from the partitions time(late XVII century) when Polish territory got split between Germans and Russians. German controlled western half was well developed, with good education and exposition to European culture, while Ruski controlled part was an underdeveloped backwards shithole. Those differences aren't so heavy nowadays as the used to be, for example, in pre-WW2 Poland, but they are still quite visible. And accordingly, western, more "europe-ified" half is more western, progressive, liberal etc., while eastern is more right leaning and conservative.
Also most big cities are in western half of Poland or in the centre, and people from those tend to be more liberal
