what's going on in the US in terms of propaganda is what happened in russia after Putin took over, basically if you can get the common populace to withdraw from politics due to burn-out or mistrust- essentially "everyone lies, I can't trust anybody, so all I can do is try to look out for myself. the government will not help me."- then they stop voting and it's easy to do whatever you please, deregulate things, lift sanctions, disenfranchise people and keep them busy with things like an unstable job, healthcare woes, lack of physical agency for women, etc etc.
russia's endgame is to pull this same shit on every large power, the UK and the US being the main ones, and then France / Germany / Canada being next. Goal is removing any and all sanctions and becoming China's main trading partner. Trump's sanctions on China are exactly what they wanted. when this is all over, the US will NEVER get those ties back.
That's a big thing people are glossing over: Trump and his administration going to jail will not solve the damage he's wrought on the US and the government in general. I know this sounds like doomsaying and alarmist bullshit but it needs to be taken seriously. What he's done will last for a long fucking time. This is probably the most destructive thing that's happened to your government that I can think of.
