I've read through the Second Amendment a few times now and I still haven't found the part that mentions "assault rifles", "AR-15s", or "tyranny". Perhaps it's because the founding fathers never intended for mere civilians to be allowed to own such weaponry? I mean, if our founders were as wise as conservatives like to claim they were then surely they would have made it very clear if they wanted people to be allowed to own AR-15s or other assault weapons.
But they did not do that. They made no mention of assault rifles or resistance to tyranny. So it either means they were incompetent or they did not intend for civilians to own such guns. Either way, there's no justification for the civilian ownership of military style fully semiautomatic assault rifles.
The social costs of these guns far outweigh any supposed benefit they may have and the time has come to start taking action. The UK and Australia have paved the way for us and it's time for the U.S. to take its rightful position among other civilized nations who have said "enough is enough".

In this case the federalist papers and other constitutional documents would be used to understand the framers intent.
