Bernie Sanders is introducing a bill to raise the minimum wage to $15. Why stop there? Why not go ahead and make it $150? If $15 is good, isn't $150 better? What arguments are there not to raise the minimum wage to $150?

>people actually believe this is an intelligent argument.

Start with a strawman...expect to be taken seriously.

But why not raise the minimum wage to $150? Are there any good reasons? If so, do they also apply to raising the minimum wage to $15?

why don't we just take away unemployment benefits?
that would solve unemployment

Why don't you greedy capitalists fatcats want people to have more money?

What economic principle does your "muh living wage" come from that permits 15 an hour but not 150 an hour?

You all do realize that when you raise the minimum wage to $15, all the people currently making $15/hr will say, "What the fuck! I need a raise now because all those minimum wage morons are making as much as me!" Then they get a raise to $20/hr, then all the $20/hr people say WTF? and so on and so until everyone makes more money, prices rise in response and NO ONE IS BETTER OFF. Giant waste of time.

They're tackling it the wrong way imo.
Should cap profits so the businesses that can pay more do and the ones that cant don't.

Even better Nationalize 51% of the stock market.

states already have their own minium wages. want to make more move to a state who has a higher one than the one you in now.

>Americans in this thread, RIGHT NOW, think raising the "federal minimum wage" affects everyone in USA

This is why Bernie will win

Where I live, we did this. It resulted in massive layoffs. There was a huge string of arsons too because of these layoffs. Formwr 24 hour grocery stores and fast food places are now only open 9am-11pm or so. The price of fast food went up by about 30% and the price of groceries went up as well. It's really shitty.

BTW, I worked for half a year free as an unpaid intern. Anyone who complains about $10 can suck it up.

I've asked this same question many times and always got nothing but deflection and dodging like this. You NPCs can't answer this question honestly.

>minimum wage bad, I am good goyim

What arguments do you have not to set the minimum wage to $0? Why not have a minimum wage of -150 dollars per hour?

>Work at decent small company in midwest.
>Get paid $20.xx per hour.
>Got 1.5% raise at end of last year.
>Minimum wage cucks got higher raise than me.
>See this shit.

god fucking damn communists are going to raise the cost of living so fucking high that I might as well just work at McDonald's

>low-non skilled workers making $5,000 a month.
>everyone has $$$ causing increased prices
>the elderly and disabled have no purchasing power because benefits stay the same
>Do you not understand this simple shit?
>you are a fucking retard coddled whore with no education, merit, or common sense
DURR! DURR! I can't eat out all the time and have starcucks without mucho dinero, HURR! DURR!

I know nothing about economics. Is it possible to instead of raising pay reduce the cost of everything?

Just wont hire more workers.
The government can't force me to hire people.

>he thinks we've always had a minimum wage

topkek

Minimum wage should be zero dollars.

>Should cap profits so the businesses that can pay more do
wat
You think businesses would continue to make profit even though it call goes to someone else?
They would create "expenses," real or otherwise.

It literally does.

((((((((((((((((((Bernie Sanders))))))))))))))))))))))))))) introduces fake bill designed to undermine western white civilization and replace it with hordes of swarthy niggers and subhumans all fighting for a chance to work at mcdicks for $15/hour.

>Why stop there? Why not go ahead and make it $150?
Because $15 per hour is a reasonable living minimum wage. $150 is fucking stupid, just like you.

Retards who advocate for raising the minimum wage are nothing more than patsys for the federal reserve and large corporations
Think about it like this
>minimum wage is raised
>prices inflate
>make under new minimum wage
>all those raises you got are now worthless
>make over the new minimum wage
>the government just made your work less valuable
Good fucking luck asking your boss for a raise now

>Why stop there? Why not go ahead and make it $150?
idiot spotted

$5/ hour is a reasonable minimum wage if you have no education or skills. Go shine my shoes and I'll toss you a nickle, pauper scum.

Devil's advocate here. You don't need $150 an hour to live on. The $15 I would at least assume is based on pretty low living requirements. I mean it's still under 30k a year before taxes. The real issue is we have no negotiating power because of immigrants/illegals who will work for much less and just stuff 4-5 families in a single house.

Don't do it, all it does is force the price of goods to raise negating the higher earrings of the minimum wage employees.
Image related, the reason the shelf is almost empty is this is considered cheap now.

More importantly, everyone always forgets the racial component of this argument. Why would I want minimum wage workers, MOST of whom are non-white, to make more money?

Stop importing millions of unskilled workers per year and wages will rise.

We had the first real chance at wage growth in years and the number of available jobs was higher than the number of people seeking work. This means that employers had to compete to get people in the door. Employers were complaining about rampant 'ghosting' and interview 'no-shows'.

Then, instead of riding that wave and letting wages grow, we keep importing millions of people in to work these jobs and reduce competition.

Hell, even Elizabeth Warren agrees that between women and low skilled migrants entering the workforce, we killed the single income family.

>itt: retards who dont know how a free market economy works

>If days off are so great, why even work at all?

These """people""" wonder why they are consistently intellectually outmaneuvered by the Jews.

why not a trillion? worked out great for Zimbabwe, everyone there is a millionaire.

bootlicking capitalist pig. I deserve $150 an hour. what's wrong with you.

Maybe we can allocate the 38 billion from the Israel fund towards this ambitious idea of Bernie's... After we get our wall though.

because it only leads to inflation dumbfuck

hell make it $1500
so people have to work les...oh wait, never mind

because all it does is outlaw anyone from working if they only have a skill set worth $14.99/hr

End illegal immigration and companies will have to pay more than minimum wage (whatever it is) just to find anyone at all.

Legal Mexicans, which there are a fuckload of, will still continue to work below standards and just live with a bunch of other Mexicans. At worst they'll just have a little less money to send back to their family in Mexico that the American economy will never see again. But we have to start somewhere.

>raise minimum wage
>also allow millions of immigrants that work for less than minimum wage

It doesn't work in Sweden, it won't work there.

It's almost like they want lower class whites to be unable to find work and depend on gibs. Finally they can secure the white vote!

Bernie and big tiddy latin gf are actually the ones who can save america. Sooner you realize this the better.

Why should a small amount of the population get all the wealth?

Adam Smith's vision of capitalism was that everyones lives would increase. The average american hasn't seen any of the increases of GDP in 50 years. It used to be the man could work and support his wife and kids on a factory job.

Sure we get shitty made Chinese microwaves. But the things that matter is being able to afford paying for a mortgage, rent, health insurance and education. Which is getting harder and harder to do.

There is also detrimental effects that the wage stagnation has caused on family life.

When you say most efficient. Most efficient for whom?

We saw the same amount of gdp and economic increases when we were more considered of workers post ww2 all the way up to the 70s.

I can not see any argument that Jeff Bezos type or a mcdonalds CEO is 300 to 1000s times more effective than they were 30 years ago.

They are just proportionally benefiting from a system thats made up of billions of people working together to create markets.

improportionately*

Thinking that any distribution is naturally moral is a really stupid posistion.

Third time's the charm

>Why stop there? Why not go ahead and make it $150? If $15 is good, isn't $150 better?
Wage inflation is good.

Do it. I'll fire all my employees, raise prices, reduce store hours, and save a fuck ton on overhead in the long run. It's only going to hurt those that depend on their own labor for money.

because its basically the same as just printing more money and handing it out

you will make 15 dollars an hour but now that 15 dollars cant even buy a roll of toilet paper

Attached: zimbabwe-100-trillion-dollar-note-2009-obverse.jpg (1000x550, 135K)

>not wanting to pay more taxes for nigger gibs
Whats wrong goyim?

>What arguments are there not to raise the minimum wage to $150?
> But why not raise the minimum wage to $150?

Because, you clear-lack-of-an-economic-understanding-not-gleaned-from-fucking-Fox, studies have shown that a $15 minimum wage doesn't have an aggregate negative effect on growth or employment, because it's not really such a big deal.

Given that upper-level profits have soared nonstop in the last few decades, and that minimum wage today is not as much as it was in the 1970s due to inflation, a $15 minimum wage is a price correction - not some misunderstood socialist imposition on MUH MONEY SUPPLY.

But muh liberty

Attached: cb3d4d1b6d0647fe43831665b3e5cb8e.jpg (1080x1350, 219K)

So why have you not done this already exactly?

Because then his "business" wouldn't function.

lol. i could use a laugh

Why not make the maximum wage $20 per hour for everyone?
Maybe shit wouldn't be so expensive then.

Nah. Surely he's just a really nice guy.

Im ok with this, it will hit the people who make minimum wage hardest and punish them for being stupid and lazy.

What is cost of living variance across states and price elasticity of demand

Raising the wage to 15 across all states ignores differing costs of living per state and each states own minimum wages, which are all above 7.50 anyway minus, like, 4 states.

But yeah the fed govt needs to be everywhere I agree.

My sister works at this bumfuck retailer and theyre marking everything up already. she spent last week marking jp prices.

It isnt that youre making 12 or 13 an hour. You can be making 150 an hour but the actual vaue of your labor will always be beneath pakjeet the indian docyor and no matter what YOU make he will always make 100x more comparitively

the question of why not raising it to 150 qn hour is fair because ultimately its true: the wage is a number. What matters are your actual skillsets and human capital.

Prices will just rise accordingly. these people can still make 20 an hour but everyone else will make more because everyone else has more in the way of skills. Do you really think high school dropouts are on the road to middle class homes all of a sudden?

checked and...

I am in a similar boat. People don't realize that I would much rather higher people who i pay $100 an hour (who are worth it) than people who I pay $12 an hour. The problem is always there are not that many people worth $100 an hour...

WELL THEN I GUESS THE POOR JUST NEED TO RISE UP AND KILL REPUBLITARDS HUH?!!

I see this coming so easily, in fact It's probably the main goal...

>higher

That is a liberal interpretation of what will happen, it is an incorrect analysis. What will happen is that companies that can only afford minimum wage employees will go out of business, and those services will go into the black market economy to avoid regulations and taxes, and the property tax base will decrease, and fewer people will pay into social safety net programs, and will will spiral down like that until you get midwest cities, which are all shitholes.

so what if you're a worker that makes 17$ an hour in a 9$ an hour state if it became law? do you now make 22$ an hour? What about people who make 22$ an hour? Will they make 35? What about those who make 35, will they make 50? Not memeing here, give me a proper response

Attached: 1543613970467.gif (460x259, 1.93M)

>ultimately its true: the wage is a number.

This number affects the cost of goods and the liquidity of consumer choice. A $150 wage will drive up inflation much more than a $15 wage - but the $15 wage compensates for aggregate inflation that has already made most items more expensive to purchase today than they were in real prices two decades ago. The $15 accomplishes something - the $150 one is just a textbook invitation to trigger inflation.

The $150 wage is a Strawman diversion from th real question of the minimum wage. And while the skill set and value of Dr. Pajeet justifies his high price, also remember that most Americans cannot afford the expensive healthcare of us proud poos, simply because their wages don't allow them to afford it. Higher minimum wages could alleviate this.

> What is the concept of minimum

Not memeing here, give me a proper response

Attached: 1538614228751.jpg (903x960, 52K)

I propose we solve world hunger by raising the wage to $150 per hour. that way each family can support 40 familias de migra.

No... You still make 17 dollars an hour.

All the new hires will make 15 and you will still make 17.

What happens is, either your employer gives you a raise, or you quit and find another job, since you can work an easier job making two dollars less with half the responsibilities.

For example, I am a supervisor at Walmart and I make 15 dollars an hour. You think I am going to put up with corporate bullshit for the same amount of pay? No, I'm going to go back to being a peon.

Ohiofag here, this is indeed their plan. It's morbidly hilarious watching Columbus trying to become a "tourist city..."

Some places would likely give some raises to retain some people who might be tempted to find a job elsewhere because they want a raise too, but sure the fuck not $6 ones.

States don't have to limit themselves to the federal minimum you absolute retard.

thats what I said

price elasticity of demand

if gas goes up by 20 a barrel the demand will not go down

if some shitty luxury good goes up by a dollar it might drastically affect its demand

unlike a lot of pol im *actually* an economist

>15$ minimum wage
>60% INCOME TAX

That's great! Maybe one day I can see this mythical $15/hr wage facilitated by a like nonetheless!

I want to bite your wrist open and spit the bloody mess in your shitskinned face.

>Bernie Sanders is introducing a bill to raise doctor visists to 15/year. Why not stop there? Why not go ahead and make it 150? If 15 visits is good, isn't 150 better?

depends

It takes time to find an equilibrium. In the short run you will make the same and people at 15 will see a real wage raise.

Over time youd prob get a real wage raise, your employer will force new hires to do more actual work and possibly be better experienced if they want to work there, and he will raise his prices or w/e. Depends on what you do.

Peoples wages will go up indirecty but so will prices. People ask, "why not 150 an hour" but that will be a reality in the future.

People used to make 3 an hour. 15 was high rider shit. Its not about the numerical value. Its about the value of your labor.

>white fragility the post

You're obviously not paid enough to understand economics. I am.

Enjoy your collapsing country anyway.

I like the idea of capping profits. Since corporations lobby for tax dollars fuck em. especially walmart.

15 bucks in California wouldn't buy you a cardboard box in an alley, and 15 bucks in Iowa which would be a decent middle class job. Better implement this nation wide!

>Make minimum wage $10,000,000 per year.
>Tax everyone at 90%.
>TFW you finally have enough money for your socialist programs.

Attached: [Socialist Noises].png (800x505, 406K)

people against minimum wage are the same people who would riot cause there is no minimum wage, and corporations are paying you a dollar a week, because they can.

liquidity of consumer choice? Thats not how you use the term.

And yes, obviously it would severely drive up inflation at 150. But the point stands that its merely a number long run. 15 raises inflation as well.

Fact of the matter is like 3 states actually pay a minimum of 7.50. Every state has a higher minimum wage than the federal wage because the cost of living in each state is different.

Raising the minimum doesnt somehow negate inflation. Thats illogical. All it does is raise prices to varrying degrees across the board. I dont understand how you can raise the entire price floor of labor across every single sector of the economy and think that it wont alter prices somehow.

You dont even have to be an economist to understand this. Whats happened since the 70s is that america isnt the only economy in the world and you cant get by with just a high school degree and make a middle class living out of high school

> what is labor supply
They can because some spic is willing to work that low.

In short no. A minimum wage is there to make a livable wage at the end of the month, people who work for 7 an hour and do let's say 50 hours a week make 350 a week that's around 1400 a month. Now I don't know about prices where you live but 1400 here is hard enough to live on, average appartement costs 650-850, now another 250-300 for food, you haven't paid for Internet, electricity, gas, transportation, clothing and savings are right out the window. A minimum wage does not affect the pay of people earning more. Of course you might want to renegotiate your pay if you're earning around minimum wage, but it would be completely up to your employer.

Just tax capital revenues... everyone knows it's the solution but everyone is afraid that if they do it, investors will run away to countries who don't. We need a global rule.

As for minimal wages, considering since how long they're asking for 15, it will soon be true thanks to inflation.

sorry goy
the rent price just risen $300

Attached: thatsucks.jpg (653x477, 88K)

thats the vice grip

they artificially push you up a tax bracket and then tax you more when you arent actually wealthier than before

lol around 1 percent of americans actually make the minimum wage you retard

> liquidity of consumer choice? Thats not how you use the term.

I mean to say, it puts more cash in hand for consumers to spend on consumables or services or whatever else they need. The money will return to the system, adding liquidity.

>I dont understand how you can raise the entire price floor of labor across every single sector of the economy and think that it wont alter prices somehow.

It's easy, give the labour class a salary hike instead of giving it to upper-level management. In most companies, you could fund this just by not handing out post-recession bonuses to people earning millions of dollars.

The absolute state of having to defend the very-rich so as to oppress the mostly-poor.

Attached: okJOZqOByGETMOF8RiCM8257Xljz68Dh-Ep3gEdFv9M.png (1024x730, 717K)

Your point being that it won't affect 99% of working Americans? So why nag they are raising it? Afraid McD will have less profit?

nigger they can, because that what they want to pay, why the fuck would anyone trying to make profit want to pay a labour more than a dollar. be him spic or white, I want to pay these fucks the least possible.

illegal spics would make less than a dollar, because why the fuck not fag.

>People believe you can just willy nilly raise the minimum wage
McDonalds makes 5.5 Billion a year in profits. If you take that whole 5.5 Billion (Leaving nothing for the owners, no reason to stay in business) and divide it up among their 1.9 million employees, you come up with a difference in pay of just 2894.73 a year. Divided by 52 weeks and 40 hours a week, that's a difference of 1.39 an hour.
Where is that $15 going to come from?

>The absolute state of having to defend the very-rich so as to oppress the mostly-poor.
I wonder why Jow Forums does this. Are they living vicariously through rich people? Do they think that defending the rich somehow puts them in the same privileged camp as the rich? That's my theory.

Defending rich people is empowering while defending poor people really isn't.

>In most companies, you could fund this just by not handing out post-recession bonuses to people earning millions of dollars.
Only banks and tech companies are doing that.
Most normal companies are making very slim profit margins in comparison to their employee base. That socialist theory of labor value venn diagram with the huge disparity and most of the difference going into the pockets of the owners is bullshit.
