Think about all the means of production and everything of value owned by American companies. The equipment, factories, vehicles, computer systems, organizational knowledge. All that was a dollar fiugure associated with it and is included in someone's net wealth (usually the shareholders of said company). If you tax investors at 70%, you are not only reducing their personal budget by 70% but you are also effectively taking 70% of all corporate assets. When someone is worth 10 billion, only like 50 million of that is in the form of cash and consumer goods, the rest is in the form of stocks, which represents ownership of a portion of a company's assets.
