When the US conquered the west that was owned by Mexicans only about 20,000 Mexicans in the region mainly in California and New Mexico, millions of whites settlers settled the region. i live in this area, as far as you can possibly get from so called mexican territory without actually crossing over into canada, and there is a significant spanish speaking population, businesses and sometimes entire districts with exclusively spanish speaking clientele. they snatch up all the cheap houses because they have 8 different incomes coming into the home. reformatting a two bedroom house to have 6 fucking apartments. fat cat retail corporations come in and buy up all the local businesses, then hire the mexicans/central americans in droves.
