My Dad went in (I think) around August of '71. Three months of boot camp, and then three month of Amtrak school (not the train) would put him in January of '72. He had a month long leave, and then they sent him to Okinawa.
I'm waiting for Dad to enmail me back to confirm, but there is no way they would send a fresh boot to Vietnam.
