During my jungle warfare training we ate some bugs including coconut grubs and queen leaf cutter ants...both consumed by natives of the amazon basin. Not bad at all...especially coconut grubs, they taste like roasted coconut.

That being said, not sure I would eat processed bugs as I don't eat any processed food.

A couple reasons

1. Insects are better for the environment than cows, and much cheaper to farm. Presumably you could get better margins on them than with beef if you got people to accept eating them.
2. Getting rid of meat gets rid of toxic male things like barbecues, hamburgers, grilling culture, etc. It's also another step closer to a world culture since shitskins and poor people eating bugs all the time, and they've gotta disabuse rich/white countries of the notion that they're above bangladeshis.

It's a rule of thumb for how much energy is transferred in every "level" of food (at least in nature). I just found out that you can breed chickens with 2.3kg of grian per kg of chicken (mealworms at 2.2kg/kg). That's insane. However, for chicken you need ~9 m^2/kg of land whereas for mealworms you only need ~4 m^2/kg
