Jail and prison really aren't that bad if you just mind your own business. I worked in corrections for 6 years and most of the people's only problem was they wanted to be away from other groups. Imagine going to school as a kid but there's no classes, you're just in the school all day with all the other kids and the adults are only there to stop you if you try to leave or break rules. That's basically it in a nutshell, except kids are more ruthless and psychotic where as most adults have already had any of that shit beaten out of them by life.

It's probably more serious like hitting his wife on the nose with a newspaper.
