Have you played a campaign of D&D with a character that fits your political views?

I've played Baldur's Gate, if that counts. Real D&D is for nerds.

Hudson Lopez

aren’t all d&d character creations typically ethnically centered and steeped in native lore? a better question would be have you played d&d full stop, but that wouldn’t let you waste anyone’s time with off topic slide.

Angel Collins

yes, played and led a a gamemaster.

We play multirace group in a very racist world, where humans are dominant.

It is fun.

I'm interested in campaigns that have political elements of nationalism, liberty, ethnocentric and other typically Jow Forums-related points of view.

How did racism pan out?

Forgot to mention that i try to add as much racist insults in the game when they encounter NPC's that are humanity first people. :D

Anthony Allen
Anthony Allen

Well, our group has difficulties with deliang with humans and trust issues and are often cheated with payments.
Also lots of all kind of racist views i manage to make.

Everyone loves the game.

William Anderson
William Anderson

I have a list with hundreds of racial insults for every race that I use whenever possible. The GM is a commie faggot but he lets fictional racism slide because I convinced him that the races of D&D hated each other.

Can you tell of a particular encounter or situation in which racism was beneficial instead of detrimental?

Samuel Russell
Samuel Russell

Not really, but it would be fun. My GMs are too soft for a crusade-like campaign. God forbid we do anything too evil. Here's an example of what happened if someone were to do anything chaotic evil.
inna standard D&D campaign to stop "evil" people
one of my party members kills anyone he wants
other players get upset by his deeds
one of my party members makes a new character just to stop the defective player
GM takes it into his own hands to arrest and capture the defective players character and uses his chaotic evil character as the new main bad guy for the campaign

Ian Allen

The group was hired to clean close dungeon from monsters and the questgiver was local crimenigger that wanted to clear the cave for himself and his posse.

Players instantly knew the questgiver would try to fuck them up so they prepared ambush after clearing the dungeon and i let them play it out. THey got the reward, killed the nigger with the criminal posse and got both niggers mansion AND the cave for themselves.

If they wouldnt have been racially carefull, nigga would have ambushed them and it might have got couple player characters killed, atleast no reward.

Ian Clark

I once played a Chaotic Good mercenary who applied his morality to every situation.

Camden Lopez
Camden Lopez

That's too bad. Next time I GM I'll make it clear that I accept evil aligned characters because there is a lot of fun to be had.

Also, now I want to play in a crusades-like campaign and kill a bunch of orcs and goblinoids as if they were mudslimes.

I play an ultra-religious Aasimar Divine Soul Sorcerer in a campaign but haven't had the opportunity to smite heretics.

Perfect.

I made a world where demon cults exist and book and witch burnings are a literal necessity for killing evil witches. The inquisition also have custom cantrips, which they can use to scan documents for 'intent to lie or hide, causing words inside to rub together in screeching sounding like tight rusty wires.

They do this because Demonic cults spread or can re-arise through only one copy of their book, which starts off mundane, but becomes a new vessel for a new demon through a simple blood ritual.

Cultists get all sorts of mechanical benefits from their pacts. They intially take each cultists soul as insurance, then after very significant amounts of expansion and the sacrifice of hundreds, as well as some specific 'milestone rituals', they can get their soul back, but they gain demonic sub-type. Basically, a cultist that dies early becomes a particularly delicious soul for a demon to torture, but if they make it all the way, they are worthy offspring of the demon.

Each sacrifice makes the demon stronger and expands their influence by a 5 foot radius from the book. After so many hundred sacrifices, a secondary radius begins to form, allowing the demon to manifest physically within.

The inquisition on the other hand are a group you either love or hate. But anyone who has suffered from the cults immediately change their opinions of the inquisition. They are an expansive order that is the driving force behind industrialisation, pioneering musket firearms and pistols and smoke grenades.

They have also designed a series of cheap and affordable 'paint by numbers' machines that allow everyday commoners to produce whatever academical product the machine was designed to produce without any skill required.

As a result, gunpowder and bottled gas are available. This is what allows them to compete with all the nasty buffs cultists gain over time (Natural armour etc in addition to their classes etc).

Austin James
Austin James

I love everything about this, especially the books mechanics and the firearms-centered industrialization. Can I steal it for my homebrew campaign?

Josiah Jenkins
Josiah Jenkins

Also, it fits so perfectly because in my campaign elves have monopolized magic, and so it makes sense non-elves to fund industrialization projects.

Brandon Morgan

Anyone on that list that isn’t part Orc is based providing the dwarves aren’t Tolkien (((dwarves))) (which are Jews) and providing that gnomes/halflings are Tolkien (which are Irish country folk)

Cameron Cruz

Not intentionally at least, it did make me prejudiced towards people playing certain fictional races though.

Elves are damn worthless turbo-jews played by narcissistic control freaks who can't deal with not being a mary sue among a perceived mary sue species that either fails horribly or carries plot-armor. I would ask how you even tell your gender apart but you are all feminine bi-fags anyway.

Retarded does not cut it for Elves. Most universes Elf Societies straight up lack any peasantry, often not even Farmlands but then they run around in fancy armor, have sprawling high fantasy cities and all that jazz just falling into their laps.

At some point i realized that this is just the same shit as with leftist libtards thinking giving everyone can be rich if we give everyone wellfare without thinking a second how any wealth is generated.

There are almost no Elves no matter the Universe that Exploit the Land.
Yet they have rare-ore enchanted equipment on mass.
There are almost no Elves no matter the Universe living in Poverty
Yet they barely still have a middle class and a working class is fully non-existent, they don't employ robots either, Golems are part of some universes.

Elves flat out don't make sense, nothing would function as presented and it attracts the worst rainbow cum stained leftist cringelord i need to be better then Gaygolas let me critically succeed any test REE assholes imaginable.

Not really. When I used to play D&D politics were never involved. Adventures were used to be pretty generic and evolved into a shitfest quickly.
The only time I enjoyed playing D&D was with Baldur's Gate 2 campaign. Anything that came after wards was too mediocre to me. Sad.

You can steal it. No problems. I encourage you not to be worried about making npcs a little overpowered in this setting. You really have to balance out cultists and enemies in general against firearms etc, because i can guarantee the party will want firearms.

I also made poisons increase in duration/ by one category (Pathfinder) and made it that fortitude saves do not cure, only stop the damage each time. So poison that goes for 1 round goes for 6, 6 rounds goes to 6 minutes, 6 minutes goes for 6 hours.

On the plus side, party members can use poisons against enemies, but now they have to be careful.

Made a 'Critical injury' table too, activated on either a natural 20 confirmed with a second nat 20, or if you take a nat crit that knocks you below 0 or if you take damage whilst below 0. You can also volunteer to convert damage that would drop you to 0 to what I call 'critical bleed' and instead roll on the crit injury table (Could just get staggered, or could lose a finger, or toe several fingers, suffer internal organ damage or lose a limb etc).

What I call 'Critical bleed' is basically like bleed damage, but it stops once you've taken the amount that you delayed (Blood loss etc).

Healing spells work as normal unless dealing with critical injuries, in which case, surgery through the heal/ medicine skill may be needed.

The heal skill uses bandages, doses of antiseptic etc (I included an infection mechanic too).

Spells like regenerate work, but you sometimes need to surgically cut a person open to hollow out the area they want to regrow a kidney, otherwise it will rupture repeatedly, causing a chain reaction of bursting organs and a bloated screaming character dying horribly.

I run Warhammer RPGs (both 40k and fantasy) for a group of people who are either liberal or apolitical. Pretty fun desu, the biggest liberal is also my best roleplayer and he's playing a Bretonnian noble's son, so in the rural part of the Empire where they are now most people are immediately racist against him.
I really don't insert politics too much into the game, the villain is a vampiress who has been traveling incognito with the players for two sessions now, using them as pawns in a vampire conflict. Before that there was a guard captain who betrayed his town to the Skaven. The noble's son slit his throat in the ruins of the town.

I wanted to run a Dark Heresy campaign where the players are recruited into a cell on a Tau occupied world, and then engage in guerilla activities against the Tau, but that never got off the ground.
