Type 1 diabetes is a completlely different disease and its mechanics are absolutely different from type 2, even their naming is outdated medical practices, but the definitions were never updated because nobody gave a shit. Type 2 is caused by your own body becoming insulin resistant, which more often than not is a result of overeating. Type 1 is an autoimmune response of the body exterminating its own pancreatic beta cells that produce insulin. It has nothing to do with weight and everything to do with inflammatory responses and activity of immune system.
