Fantastic progress was made at Hanoi on various issues(such as a peace treaty ending the Korean War) and both Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un have a great relationship still, this means simply that more talks/discussions/negotiations are needed on the Team level more than the Leadership level between the countries.
NK and the US are definitely close to striking a denuclearizing deal, but they just need more time to hammer it out and make sure it happens. The Trump Administration is North Korea's best chance to avoid a future nuclear conflict with the US or even China. Not only that but if done properly a good denuclearizing deal with the US would put NK on the world stage economically and unite the Korean Peninsula down the road.
