Getting scammed in email, dude knows my 15 y/o pw

After poking around the web for free phone transfer apps my ram started acting funny. Usually I would reinstall windows right away but, bear with me, it's a drag.

Usually I don't bother with my spam folder but today it caught my attention. One of messages had my old pw in the topic. Wondering what it is all about I opened the letter against my better judgment and lo and behold. Someone is threatening me for a sum of money a peasant like me would never make even in three months of work without spending a dime.

Quickly getting an Anti-Malware app I ran into bazillion of tracking s* and whatnot. Telling me that he has dirty pics while I don't even own a web cam is a fine thing to amuse me with but. Being such an 'advanced' user I thought that windows protector has beefed up over the years, ehh better think again...

So what I am here to ask, is this salvageable or is it a lost cause? Should I gather my things and run to forest or is there a better solution. Not that the porn leak if I ever have one would bother me much desu.

So what shall I do?

BTW no clue how 4ch works yet so might multipost.

BTW here's the email:

Hey!

I know your pass is: (omitted for reasons)

I infected you with my private malware, (RAT) / (Remote Administration Tool), a few months back when you visited some website where my iframe was placed and since then, I have been observing your actions.
The malware gave me full access and control over your system, meaning, I can see everything on your screen, turn on your camera or microphone and you won't even notice about it.

I have also access to all your contacts, private pictures, videos, everything!
I MADE A VIDEO showing you (through your webcam) STATISFYING YOURSELF!
You got a very good taste! Hahaha...
I can send this video to all your contacts (email, social network) and publish all your private data everywhere!

Only you can prevent me from doing this!

To stop me, transfer exactly 1600$ with the current bitcoin (BTC) price to my bitcoin address.
I think it's a very good price compared to the damage and hell it can bring into your life!
If you don't know how to get bitcoin, Google - "How to buy Bitcoin".
The wallet you can create here: www.login.blockchain.com/en/#/signup/

My bitcoin adress is: 1JtTm5eCxqj94Pb4d58pWGZjLUMYHuC6yX

After receiving the payment, I will delete the material I got from you, we will forget everything and you can continue living your life in peace like before!
I give you 3 days to get the bitcoins and pay!
Since I got access to your account, I know if this email already has been read!
To make sure you read this email, I sent it multiple times!
Don't share this email with anyone, this should stay our little secret!

Def fake

I had a paid one NiS, used it till recently before my last windows reinstall because that thing 'helped' plus I was running out of sub and was tired of it.

But ye I understand the sentiment. Any advice for good avs?

I personally use avast

>So what I am here to ask, is this salvageable or is it a lost cause?
When it doubt, wipe.

Also change your fucking password on all your accounts, good lord you absolute boomer. I bet is was some dumb shit too like "pass1234"

I used to run avast, free version, I can't recall the reason why I stopped guess it's time to remember why. Thanks, will get it later today. Any other personal favs?

Haha yeah sounds like a plan, also naw. More like Z0m6iPM4n. Something I will have to do. :/

It's a know scam where bots pull your email and associated password from one the thousands of leaks from websites over the years. The thing you need to do is change your password once in a while and you're fine.

Sounds fake.

You don't even have a webcam. Fix your computer and ignore the email.

If you're really uncertain, message them back asking them to prove they've got shit on you. If they say no or come up with some excuse, then you're probably good.

I actually did just that the moment I seen it. Thanks everyone again, ye put my mind at ease.

>No webcam yet somehow has photos
Also, wasn't this same scam posted here a month ago? Same situation except OP was underage.

Simply put, tell the guy to get fucked.

haveibeenpwned.com
It's a common scam where they get your email and password from a list that came from a site that previously had its data compromised. Just ignore it and make sure your passwords aren't the same.

I got the same email yesterday and literally everything I was doing was watching YouTube. It seems like it’s just a new scam trend, don’t pay mind, OP. I don’t even have a webcam.

Phew, okay thanks

This is a scam, you're not in any danger and there's nothing on your PC. Definitely don't send him any money

The topic is now littered with many of my thanks but literally every reply helps. Thanks to everyone. Installing avast meanwhile.

How much does anti virus actually do? I read somewhere that it really doesn't do much and the best thing is just to avoid sketchy websites because once you do get a virus its too late. How wrong/right is this?

He got some old password likely from a password breach on an old website and made a fake blackmail email.
Ignore and don't open emails like that again.

I am actually quite curious myself. I had a silly named superantimalware (trial prof version) do a scan on pc and except one bad cookie it didn't find anything. And I haven't had full Norton package on quite some time.

Install Avast even if it's shitty.
Also, you DONT have to infect a PC in order to know any pass at all. You have tons of way to do it and some very obvious like phishing or just getting it from a leak on a site

Just ignore Jesus man if he was controlling your PC he wouldn't have sent you an email to contact you

Got the same scam a while ago. Tried to have a chat with the guy and gave him some tips on grammar but he didn't reply, made me kinda sad.

It's a fucking meme. They got the old password when some shitty site got their db hacked and just randomly send shit. You're not important enough to use decent spyware on.

The guy is even worse than mine.

I am well aware XXXXXX is your passphrases. Lets get directly to the purpose. No person has paid me to investigate about you. You don't know me and you are most likely wondering why you're getting this mail?

Let me tell you, i setup a software on the adult vids (porno) site and do you know what, you visited this website to experience fun (you know what i mean). While you were viewing video clips, your web browser started functioning as a Remote control Desktop with a key logger which provided me access to your screen as well as cam. Right after that, my software gathered your entire contacts from your Messenger, Facebook, as well as email . and then i created a double-screen video. First part displays the video you were watching (you've got a good taste lol . . .), and next part shows the view of your web camera, and its you.

You actually have two alternatives. We will understand these types of options in aspects:
1st alternative is to neglect this message. in this instance, i most certainly will send your actual recorded material to every single one of your contacts and consider concerning the disgrace yo u will see. Do not forget in case you are in a romantic relationship, just how it is going to affect?
in the second place solution is to compensate me USD 969. i will refer to it as a donation. in this situation, i most certainly will quickly erase your video. You could continue your daily life like this never occurred and you never will hear back again from me.

You will make the payment through Bitcoin (if you do not know this, search 'how to buy bitcoin' in Google search engine).

Antivirus is a meme too.

Hah, oh and I actually hear that mainstream porn sites are more secure than many other places.

Yeah, obviously, they business depends on people feeling safe and even a small leak would be a disaster. Think my guy got it from some psp forum I used ages ago.

Your email and password were probably part of a breach of some popular website (Adobe, LinkedIn, MySpace, etc etc) and then sold or leaked on a hacking forum.

Then these people mail every single email and password on their pastebin list and hope some sucker falls for it.

This person has nothing that belongs to you, except your email and password.

The only idiot mistake you’ve made is use the same password for all of the websites you login to.

>Do not forget in case you are in a romantic relationship, just how it is going to affect?
Kek so this hypothetical guy can supposedly access everything on your PC, watches you fap daily, but still doesn't know whether you have a gf. Seems legit

Aye, there was a time when I had one or two for most. Nowadays I have around 15 and was worried they could all be lost. Now that'd be a disaster. Still feels like I should get more now. BTW is there a reliable site that informs about any leakage in time?

Another thing I heard were like fb having had a breach for year or two before it became wildspread.

Jow Forums guy here
It seems like a known scam. Don't panic, don't reply and don't send any money, yes he/she knows your pwd, this is because sometimes passwords databases leaks on internet with sometimes an email linked to it and he/she juste get your email and send you this premade mail. So just change your pwd (to a strong one if possible :) ) and delete this email and never think about it again because you dont have to worry about it :)
Hope it helps :D
