It depends on what weight and size. Personally, I'm attracted to slender and slim types as well as thick, curvy types. If it's just your skeleton, that's all you can do about it. For men themselves: Being a fat man is worse than being a fat woman. Fat acceptance for men is far lower than for women. This is great for encouraging men to get into shape but also utterly defeats men with weaker wills.

Why men care about their partner's size: Some men find fat disgusting, some don't. Some men get worried about their partner's health. Imagine if you love someone's personality but hate their looks (and unlike some other factors, weight can be influenced).

For both: Fucked social standards. If you look good and your partner doesn't you might start feeling like your partner is inferior. If you look shit and your partner doesn't you might start feeling unworthy. If either of this happens it can fuck up the relationship greatly. This is the power that our society has over us. Very few overcome the influence.

Bonus : It's still healthier to be fit than to be fat, regardless of gender or your opinions. If you love stuffing yourself or whatnot, power to you, but i won't tell you that it's good for you.

It's a few reasons for me.
Some of them are romantic. I want to wrap my arms around the girl, pin her, overpower her gently and feel her squirm. I want to be able to pick her up and am literally chalking up my arms to do it.

I would think that the fat people we see now are the descendants of the most successful people of the past. The math isn't simple.
